Chapter 541 I Have One Demand

  • Lorelei's real concern was obvious—she knew that if she called Sera herself, there was a good chance Sera wouldn't even bother answering. So instead, she took the indirect route, trying to use Evelyn as the bait to lure Sera into their trap. Sensing Evelyn's growing hostility, she hurried to defend herself. "You've got it all wrong! That's not my intention at all. If you don't believe me, I can call Sera right now."
  • "Don't you dare." Evelyn's voice was sharp, leaving no room for argument. There was no way she would let Lorelei use her name to manipulate Sera into walking straight into danger. If anything happened to Sera, she would never forgive herself. Miril, who had been listening on the sidelines, found Lorelei's suggestion quite appealing. To him, the method didn't matter—what mattered was the result. As long as Ms. Foster cared about Evelyn, it didn't matter who sent the message. As long as they got her in their grasp, their mission was accomplished. Whatever happened in between was irrelevant to them.
  • "Make the call!" Miril tossed the phone at Lorelei, his voice commanding. She froze, her expression tightening. She had only spoken the words to test the waters—never truly intending to follow through. If Sera were to be put at risk because of this call, the Foster family would never let her off the hook. Miril, seeing her hesitation, gave a sinister smile. "Refuse, and you'll see what happens. She'll be your consequence." Lorelei's gaze flickered nervously to Evelyn, her body trembling as she watched the agony on her face.
