Chapter 10 Too Dirty
- Did she remember she had a biological daughter when she was serving food to Linara?
- Did she remember she had a daughter who had just arrived and was unfamiliar with everything when she was preparing food for Linara?
- Did she ever wonder whether her biological daughter could get used to the food or adapt to the new home?
- No!
- She never considered it.
- Perhaps, in their eyes, just being able to enter this family was an enjoyment for Seraphina. There was no room for dislike, unhappiness, or maladjustment.
- Linara glanced at Seraphina across the table and turned to Chloe. "Mom, stop serving me food. You should eat more yourself."
- With that, Linara picked up a piece of sashimi and put it into Seraphina's bowl. "Seraphina, try this. It tastes very good."
- Seraphina looked at the sashimi in her bowl.
- Is this sashimi? No, it is a declaration of war, telling me that even though I'm the biological daughter, so what? My mother has no eyes for me.
- She only served food to Linara but not to her.
- Snap.
- Seraphina put down her fork.
- The three people at the table looked at her in surprise. Oberon frowned, displeased with the noise she made.
- Chloe looked at her in confusion.
- As for Linara, she was secretly delighted.
- Make a scene. The more she makes a scene, the less Mom and Dad will like her.
- "Jasmine, bring me a clean bowl."
- Seraphina took the new bowl from Jasmine, placed the previous bowl aside, and began eating slowly under the gaze of the three.
- Chloe frowned, showing displeasure. "Seraphina, what are you doing?"
- "Too dirty," replied Seraphina indifferently with two words.
- Linara was secretly delighted. However, she showed a sad expression and lowered her head in grievance.
- Oberon slammed his fork down heavily.
- "Seraphina, where are your manners?"
- The atmosphere at the dining table instantly dropped to freezing point. The maids around were so scared that they didn't dare make a sound.
- However, Seraphina, the one involved, swallowed her food slowly and elegantly wiped her mouth with a napkin.
- She looked up at Oberon with a calm expression, seemingly unaware of his rising anger.
- She undisturbedly said, "Sashimi contains billions of bacteria that breed and multiply although it has high nutritional value. Do you know that every minute that passes, billions of bacteria increase on it? From slaughtering it to serving it on the dining table, how much time does that process take? How many bacteria breed during that time? I said it was dirty. Am I wrong?"
- Seraphina's cold eyes fearlessly met Oberon's.
- Oberon realized he had misunderstood and awkwardly coughed.
- Yet, he had no intention of apologizing to Seraphina.
- He wanted to pretend nothing had happened, but Seraphina would not let it pass.
- She rested her chin on her hands, smiling, and said, "I left the orphanage at five, fought with dogs for food, competed with other beggars for shelter under a bridge, and begged for money from people. In 16 years, I only learned one thing. Survive. What are manners? Can they be exchanged for food, drink, or a worry-free life? If so, I would have excellent manners."
- The dining room fell silent.
- The more indifferent she appeared, the more those seemingly light words contained deep sorrow and hardship.
- Jasmine and the others looked at her with pity, but at the same time, they were worried she might upset Mr. Whitewood.
