Chapter 11 An Unpleasant Parting

  • Mr. Whitewood's word was law in this family. He absolutely did not allow anyone to challenge his authority or contradict him.
  • Seraphina's actions were undoubtedly like pulling the tiger's whiskers.
  • Linara looked at her in shock, not at her past experiences, but at how she could so casually recount those shameful things.
  • Oberon and Chloe remained silent.
  • "Seraphina, it's all my fault." Chloe wiped her tears, walked to her side, and tried to pull her into her arms.
  • Seraphina stood up, avoiding her embrace.
  • Once, she had longed to be held in her mother's arms. Now, she no longer needed it.
  • She had endured too much suffering.
  • Having endured so much, she had grown accustomed to it.
  • "I'm full. You all enjoy your meal."
  • Seraphina walked out of the dining room, indifferent to what they thought or how they viewed her.
  • The atmosphere in the dining room did not ease after her departure. Instead, it grew heavier.
  • Oberon looked at the table full of dishes Linara liked and lost his appetite.
  • Oberon looked at Chloe. "From now on, ask Seraphina what she likes to eat before meals."
  • Linara's heart ached when she heard this, and her hands clenched into fists on her lap.
  • Now even the food has to be fought over.
  • Chloe nodded. Seeing her husband get up, she quickly asked, "You're not eating anymore?"
  • How can I continue eating?
  • "No, I'm done."
  • Before leaving the dining room, he glanced at Linara with a stern face and left.
  • After they left, Chloe sat back down. "Linara, you should eat more."
  • Linara looked at the table full of sashimi dishes. She lost her appetite after hearing Seraphina's words.
  • She still felt uneasy even knowing that Seraphina did it on purpose.
  • "No, I'm full."
  • She had no appetite left with the way Dad looked at her just now.
  • Mom really does not know how to read the room.
  • Linara complained in her heart but did not dare show it on her face.
  • In the past, she would have thrown a tantrum.
  • Now, she had to hold it in even though she was angry.
  • Seeing no one was eating, Chloe also put down her fork and waved for the maids to clear the table.
  • "Jasmine, what do you think Seraphina meant by bringing up all that out of nowhere? She made everyone unhappy. Do you think she's blaming me for not paying her attention?" Chloe complained to Jasmine, feeling uncomfortable.
  • Jasmine sighed inwardly.
  • If I were Miss Seraphina, I'd be upset too. The first meal back home, and everything on the table is Linara's favorite. How can Miss Seraphina not be angry?
  • Indeed, Chloe was at fault, but Jasmine dared not say that.
  • Jasmine smiled and replied, "Miss Seraphina probably isn't used to it yet. She'll naturally be fine if you show her more care."
  • "Alright."
  • Chloe stood up, unwilling to continue the topic.
  • Knock. Knock. Knock.
  • There were knocks on the door.
  • "Come in."
  • The door opened, and Linara walked into the room, her gaze falling on where Seraphina was sitting.
  • It was her favorite spot.
  • From there, one could see the most beautiful scenery in the villa area.
  • That chair was a crocodile skin couch designed and custom-made by her brother, it was one of its kind in the world.
  • Yet now, it was occupied by Seraphina.
  • Her heart broke seeing this scene.
