• She tightened the blankets around her body as her coughing subsided, desperate to go back to sleep. But the whisper of wind from somewhere in the bedroom pulled her to full wakefulness.
• Too cold to fall back asleep, Lena tightened Renz's robe around her waist and crawled off of the bed, searching through the room until she found the source of the frost.
• Her frigid bones pulled hard against the cracked window, until finally the bedroom was fully sealed against the bitter cold. The sky was dark, morning still hours away, but to her surprise, the grounds surrounding Schloss Wolfenbarger had been transformed in the night. Instead of the rolling hills of rich green forests, there was a Sahara of endless bright white.
