Chapter 3 Beautiful Sisters
- Tessa Katz and Thelma Katz?
- They have the same surname. It seems I keep bumping into people named Katz today.
- The thought flashed through my mind. I turned to the woman before me and looked at her closely.
- No way! Could she be the one looking for a husband?
- Before coming here, I thought a woman seeking a live-in husband would be ugly or have a terrible personality. But in actuality, things were not what I expected.
- Within a short amount of time, I met two of the most beautiful women I had ever seen in all eighteen years of my life.
- Tessa was playful and adorable.
- On the other hand, the lady before me was elegant and charming.
- She wore a smart skirt suit that seemed to be a uniform. I could see her slender legs below the skirt, wrapped tightly in black tights. She also wore a pair of black high-heeled sandals.
- Her face was lovely, with pink lips, bright eyes, and smooth skin. She was flawless. She looked like the most gorgeous masterpiece in the world.
- However, beneath her capable demeanor, there was a sense of dominance. She seemed like a strong-willed lady.
- As I looked at her, I finally understood why all her previous husbands had died.
- She had a tall figure and luscious curves. There was something irresistibly sensual about her.
- No wonder her past husbands could not resist her.
- I walked toward her with trepidation.
- "Have a seat. Why do you look like this?" Thelma gently tapped the table and asked coldly.
- I sat down awkwardly and found it strange. How did she know my name?
- The gorgeous lady glared at me and said coldly, "You're late for almost an hour." She seemed displeased with unpunctuality.
- I panicked and quickly explained that I was unfamiliar with the city and had lost my way. Thankfully, the lady did not continue to question me on the matter.
- "I investigated your situation yesterday. Your name is Reuben Demsey, age eighteen, and you dropped out during your second year of high school. Your parents are gamblers who owe the loan sharks one million. You are chased by loan sharks, right?"
- As she was speaking, she placed a photo of me on the table.
- It only took her one night to find out everything about my family. I felt I could never hope to hide anything from this woman. Furthermore, I could not figure out how she got that photo of me. This woman was scary.
- Thelma looked at me and asked, "You must be here because of that one million."
- I nodded and was a little embarrassed.
- Disdain flashed across Thelma's eyes. Every man who applied to be her live-in husband came for the money.
- "Alright, we are the only ones here, so I'll be frank." Thelma tapped on the table and stared at me before continuing solemnly, "Let's make a deal."
- "A deal?" I was stunned.
- Thelma explained, "That's right. We shall make a deal. You came here to get one million. If we have a son, my family will pay you one million."
- I nodded. Since I had fallen into such a desperate state, there was no point denying that I wanted the money.
- "In actuality, getting that one million is not that easy. You can't guarantee that you can provide a son, right?"
- She was right. Whether the baby was male or female was purely based on luck.
- Then, Thelma continued, "Thus, you can make a deal with me. I want you to be my husband in name, but you are not allowed to touch me."
- Huh?
- I was confused by what she meant.
- Thelma looked at me with a hint of annoyance and said, "In other words, we shall marry but will never consummate our marriage. I will never let people like you touch me."
- "Then, how are we to have a son?" I widened my eyes in astonishment.
- Thelma's expression darkened. "I don't need you to give me a son. All you need to do is to be a husband only in name."
- "What about money?" I blurted out.
- I came here because of money. Although consummating our marriage might not guarantee us a son, there was still a fifty percent chance. However, if we were to only be a married couple in name, there would be zero chance of having a son. So, how am I supposed to pay the loan sharks?
- Perhaps I was too obvious about my desire for money. That prompted Thelma to look at me with increasing disdain.
- Looking at her gaze, I could see she saw me as trash.
- Still, she replied, "You don't have to worry about money. I will give you ten thousand every month. What do you think? It's much more than what you would earn from a job."
- Ten thousand? This allowance is generous but compared to the amount of debt I owed, it would be like trying to put out a burning car with a glass of water. It's far from enough.
- Then, Thelma continued, "Of course, that's not the only reward you'll get. If you can conceal this arrangement for half a year, I will reward you with a hundred thousand. If you could hide it for a year, I'll pay you two hundred thousand. If you successfully hide it for two years, I will pay all your remaining debt with the loan sharks. What do you think?"
- My Adam's apple trembled, and I gulped.
- It was a very attractive deal.
- It seemed Thelma hated men a lot. She did not wish to marry and would not let men touch her. Therefore, she chose to make a deal with me.
- "Do you hate men that much?" I asked.
- Thelma sneered. "Of course. There is nothing good about men."
- I smiled bitterly. Her hatred was beyond normal.
- "So, do you agree? The reality is you don't have much choice. If you don't agree, you would have to go back. But once you return, the loan sharks would be waiting for you. You know very well what would happen then." Thelma smiled coldly and sipped her cocktail. She knew I could not afford to refuse her offer.
- After all, she had investigated me thoroughly and knew everything.
- "Do I have a choice?" I slumped into my chair and said helplessly.
- Money was not all-powerful, but one was powerless without money. I finally understood the saying at that moment.
- I stood up and said, "I'll go back and pack my things…"
- "No need. There's no point bringing your trash to my house. Follow me." Thelma stood up as she spoke and summoned the waiter to bring the bill.
- I snuck a glance and saw that the bill was a four-figure sum. She only had a cocktail…
- After footing the bill, Thelma strode outside with me following her.
- She drove a car here. When I saw the luxurious sedan before me, I felt my heart trembling slightly.
- I recognized the angel statue on the hood. It was a luxury car worth a few million.
- "Get in." Thelma rolled down the window and indicated to me to sit at the back. Somehow, I sensed that if it wasn't too outrageous, she would have seated me in the trunk.
- It was my first time riding a luxury sedan. I usually had to walk to go anywhere, so it felt different as if I had become a VIP.
- The car took a few turns in the city and finally arrived at a luxurious villa compound. Then, the car stopped before a villa.
- If I'm not mistaken, the average housing price in the city was around twenty thousand. Properties in the city center would cost above fifty thousand. Yet, her family has a three-story villa in such an area. How rich are they?
- Looking at the size, the first floor must have at least five hundred square meters. There's even a garden… This villa must have cost at least twenty million.
- After parking the car, Thelma instructed me to get out. "Let's go. We will be meeting my mother, so behave and don't embarrass me."
- My palms were sweating, and I nodded stiffly. I had a feeling that Thelma's mother would not be easy to get along with.
- Then, Thelma opened the door and led me in.
- I glanced around the spacious living room and saw a woman sitting quietly on the couch, watching TV.
- She was beautiful and looked to be in her thirties. Her skin was smooth, and her appearance exquisite. There was some resemblance between her and Thelma. The woman wore a simple black laced dress that accentuated her perfect figure.
- Could this woman be Thelma's older sister?
- I remembered Thelma telling me to behave, so I thought I should be courteous. "Excuse me. Hi… I'm Reuben Demsey. You must be Thelma's elder sister…"
- Elder sister?
- The woman was stunned for a moment before covering her mouth and laughed. Her face brightened with her smile.
- Thelma glared at me with annoyance. "What are you rambling about? She's my mother!"
- Mother? I was stunned. For real? She looks like she is only a few years older than Thelma.
- "Haha, you flatter me. Do I look that young?" Thelma's mother looked at me with a delighted smile.
- I scratched my head in embarrassment. "Erm, I thought you were her sister."
- "How sweet of you." The woman smiled and was pleased with my unintentional compliment. After all, every woman likes to be told that they look young.
- "Mom, have you seen Tessa?" Thelma asked suddenly, "Tessa said she bumped into a friend and did not join me. Has she come home?"
- The woman answered casually, "Yes, she's upstairs, taking a bath."
- Tessa?
- Why does that name sound familiar? Where did I hear it?
- As I was puzzled, a series of footsteps came from upstairs. I glanced up instinctively and saw a slender young woman dressed in a set of thin white silk pajamas. She looked pure and beautiful as an angel as she walked down the stairs. It seemed she had just finished her bath and was drying her hair with a snow-white towel.
- "Sis, have you brought back your husband? Let me see what he's like." The young woman turned to me as she spoke.
- Our eyes met at the same time.
- My body stiffened immediately.
- The young woman also stood stunned at her spot. Her towel slipped from her hand and fell onto the staircase.
- "It's you?"
- "Tessa Katz?"
