Chapter 19 The Last Straw

  • My expression was bleak and furious. I didn't need to look to see who had thrown this slip of paper over.
  • Kelsey Katz, Larry Dundha, and two of his henchmen. Other than those scoundrels, there was no way anyone else did it.
  • My whole body was shaking. I could only feel a furious flame bubbling up from my heart.
  • But in any case, I knew where I was. Even though I was enraged, I forcibly repressed the rage in my heart. I didn't want to fight with my classmates behind me on the first day of school during my first lesson.
  • To me, this was an opportunity to go to school. I knew how difficult it was, so I didn't want to lose out on this opportunity in vain.
  • Lydia Baxter, who was beside me, still didn't understand what was going on at first, but when she saw my expression, she could somewhat feel that something wasn't right.
  • At this time, another ball of paper hit my head.
  • It rolled to Lydia Baxter's side. She unconsciously reached out her hand to pick it up and glanced at it.
  • Bastard!
  • There was only one word on the paper. Lydia Baxter's face changed in an instant.
  • Lydia Baxter didn't know what had happened, but the way she was looking at me seemed like she was slightly worried about me. I immediately shot her a reassuring glance to tell her that I was alright.
  • But Lydia Baxter still wasn't feeling too reassured. It seemed like she was about to stand up and inform Ms. Katz.
  • I placed one hand on Lydia Baxter's shoulder and pressed down gently, signaling to her to not be too hasty. I could settle my own business. I hadn't reached the point where I was so disgraced that I would let a woman stick her head out for me.
  • Seeing that there was no reaction from me, those scoundrels became more audacious. Maybe they thought that I wouldn't dare do anything because this was a school. The paper balls flew over one by one.
  • One ball, two balls, three balls...
  • Some rolled on the floor, some rolled onto the desk.
  • I lost count of how many times I was hit by the paper balls.
  • Thief, garbage, scum, loser, bastard...
  • There was a hateful curse on every single slip of paper. Some were even nastier, with curses that were filthy beyond belief.
  • I just silently unfolded each slip of paper and placed it on the desk.
  • Every piece of paper and every hateful curse made my heart beat violently.
  • At this moment, the raging inferno in my heart burned even more fiercely.
  • It was as if those behind me were very pleased with themselves. The students nearby witnessed this scene and there was slight pity in their eyes.
  • How did this person offend those rascals, that they have their eye on him? He's going to be in for a mess.
  • In any case, they are going overboard. Even if they are bullies, this is too much.
  • There were a few times when Lydia Baxter couldn't stand it. If it wasn't for me holding her back, Lydia Baxter would have informed the teacher by now. If she really did that, it would mean that she would offend those people. It was more likely than not that those scoundrels would take revenge on her.
  • Furthermore, for someone like me who had been around for a while, it was embarrassing to inform the teacher as soon as something happened to me.
  • Those people were getting more out of hand. Finally, with a bang, something hard hit the back of my head.
  • Immediately, I felt something ice-cold flow down my neck.
  • An ink bottle fell on the ground and shattered to pieces.
  • That sharp sound finally caught the attention of Tessa Katz who was on the podium. She frowned and turned around. "What's going on?"
  • My head, neck, and clothes were stained by traces of ink.
  • Tessa also saw the pile of papers on my table. She instinctively felt that something was wrong with this situation.
  • "Haha, I'm sorry, I'm sorry. My hand accidentally slipped. I'm sorry, my classmate...," One of Larry Dundha's guys stood up and said to me while smiling.
  • Although he was apologizing, that face of his didn't look apologetic at all. That expression was basically saying, I did it on purpose. What are you going to do about it?
  • Because my body was shaking continuously with anger, Lydia Baxter looked at me, slightly worried.
  • I had dropped out of school previously. It wasn't easy to have the opportunity to go to school again. I just wanted to learn, and I didn't want to cause trouble.
  • I didn't want to cause trouble, but it didn't mean that I was afraid of it.
  • I didn't want to fight on my first day of school, but it didn't mean that I wouldn't fight.
  • They were basically taking me for a ride. No one would be able to tolerate something like this.
  • This was the last straw, I am not putting up with it any longer!
  • But at this time, the expression on my face was unusually strange. I was actually smiling. It was just that that smile was exceptionally sinister and cold. It could even make one's hair stand on one end.
  • I glanced over and took a look at that henchman of Larry Dundha.
  • My cold smile and my frightening gaze made the henchman tremble slightly. "What... what do you want? I've apologized. I did it on accident, my hand slipped..."
  • "Your hand slipped?" I laughed.
  • "It's alright. I don't mind," I said while smiling.
  • But Tessa Katz, who was on the podium, was perceptive enough to feel that there was something wrong with this.
  • "Reuben Demsey, don't... don't be hasty. What are you doing..."
  • Just as Tessa Katz was speaking, I was already in front of that guy. This fellow had previously seen me beat people up at the entrance of the school. He couldn't help but feel a little afraid. His throat wiggled slightly. "What... what are you doing? This is the classroom, not the place where you fight."
  • "Fight? Who wants to fight?" I said in a cold voice as I stood in front of this person.
  • My right hand reached out abruptly and hooked the back of this fellow's head in front of the whole class and Tessa Katz.
  • My actions were speedy. This guy had no chance to react at all. There was a bang, and his face was directly smashed into the wooden desk in front of him. Blood immediately flowed out of the corner of his mouth and nostrils.
  • "Oops, my bad. My hand slipped. Are you alright?" I said darkly while staring at the fellow whose face was soaked with bloodstains.
  • Hiss...
  • When the surrounding students saw this scene, all of their faces changed.
  • Good fellow. Larry Dundha and his gang seemed to be delinquents. But it looked like the newcomer isn't someone to be messed with. He is a lot more vicious with his actions than Larry Dundha and his gang.
  • These people are out of luck. They messed with someone they shouldn't have messed with.
  • Seeing me make my move, Larry Dundha and his follower immediately hit the table and stood up.
  • "Damn it, Reuben Demsey. You're looking to bloody die..." Larry Dundha said with a snarl. He had a baseball bat in his hand. This fellow actually had a toy like that on him. He rushed toward my head, wanting to hit it.
  • Unfortunately, my reflexes were quicker. I took a step forward suddenly and turned my head around. I avoided that baseball bat and my leg kicked Larry Dundha's stomach.
  • Larry Dundha's body booted backward, and he fell back. His back bumped hard against the wall.
  • As for the other follower, he picked up his own chair and rushed to smash it against my back.
