Chapter 18 A Special Relationship
- At that moment, I spied an exquisite scenery.
- It was as if the woman opposite me had noticed my gaze. She cried out loud and then hurriedly pressed her skirt down. She glared at me with a gaze that was filled with hate and scorn. She was looking at me like she was looking at a pervert.
- "I apologize, I'm sorry. Are you hurt?" I got up from the ground in a hurry, wanting to help the woman opposite me get up.
- But it was as if the woman was already sure that I was a pervert. She hit my hands with a smack then stood up and hobbled off.
- As I looked at the departing figure of the woman, I was a little speechless.
- From the looks of it, that woman should be a teacher in the school. Were the teachers in this school chosen for their looks?
- "Reuben Demsey, you're finally here." At this time, a familiar voice came from the back.
- I raised my head and saw the figure of my sister-in-law, Tessa Katz, in front of me.
- "Tessa, I..." Seeing her, my heart couldn't help but feel a special kind of way.
- It was just that Tessa interrupted what I was about to say.
- "Reuben Demsey. At home, you're my brother-in-law. At school, I'm your teacher and you're my student. Our relationship is as such. Don't think of anything else," Tessa Katz said while biting her lips.
- Ever since I started staying in that villa, Tessa and I hadn't had the chance to be alone at all.
- Or perhaps it was more of Tessa avoiding me on purpose.
- Tessa Katz didn't want to upset her own family because of some mistakes she had made in the past.
- I initially had a lot of things I wanted to say, but I was feeling a little disappointed after hearing what Tessa said.
- She was a woman that I had previous relations with after all, but we were such strangers now. That feeling made me feel a little upset.
- But it was Tessa's choice.
- "I... understand," I said as I hung my head.
- Tessa looked a little unwell. She shook her head lightly and discarded her distracting thoughts. That's right, teacher and student, brother-in-law and sister-in-law. Our relationship is as such. That is enough.
- She could just treat what had happened previously as a beautiful dream.
- Tessa Katz was prepared to bury what had happened previously deep in her heart.
- It was enough to just treat it as a beautiful memory. Tessa would fully repress the feelings in her heart.
- "These are your textbooks. Follow me after you take them. You've been arranged to be in my class. I'm your deputy homeroom teacher and your English teacher," Tessa said softly.
- She hugged her teaching materials and walked ahead.
- Tessa was as beautiful as ever in a school setting.
- Although as compared to before, some simple accessories on her had disappeared; perhaps because of the rules in school.
- She looked extremely serious with a simple uniform and a plain pair of glasses.
- She no longer looked like a young, beautiful girl, but more like a serious, old-fashioned teacher.
- She led the way, and we reached the teaching block. I was in Class Seven on the fifth floor.
- Every floor had five classes, and every class had around a hundred students. There was a total of six floors from top to bottom.
- Which also meant that there were thirty classes with three thousand students.
- And this was only for one grade. With three grades, there were around ten thousand students in this private high school.
- One could only imagine the extent of this school.
- The class was noisy at first, but it quickly resumed its silence as soon as Tessa got up to the podium.
- It was clear that Tessa's serious and old-fashioned appearance was somewhat of a deterrence to these students.
- "Alright, class is about to start. Before that, I will introduce a new student. I hope everyone will get along well," Tessa Katz said.
- I could feel all the eyes of the students in the class focused on me.
- I was about to introduce myself when I heard a sharp voice. "Reuben Demsey, why are you here?"
- I looked unconsciously toward the voice and was mortified. Other than Kelsey Katz, who else would that voice belong to?
- At this point, Kelsey Katz was staring at me with her big eyes. It was clear that she thought this was unimaginable. There was even anger in her eyes.
- Do the two of us know each other?
- Other students were whispering to each other.
- My brows wrinkled slightly.
- I noticed a few of the scoundrels that I had previously beat up next to Kelsey Katz. There was Larry Dundha and two other hoodlums.
- They looked at me with such fierce expressions. It was obvious that they were incredibly displeased after suffering a loss under my hands.
- I didn't think that I would be arranged in a class like this. It looked like there would be trouble brewing in the future.
- 'Kelsey Katz, sit down. This is a classroom," Tessa Katz said in a low voice while she tapped the desk.
- It was as if Kelsey was a little afraid of her Aunt Tessa. She shut her mouth and sat down feeling a little wronged. She didn't dare speak anymore.
- "Reuben Demsey, there's an empty space there. You can sit there," Tessa Katz said and pointed to the only empty seat.
- It wasn't a good spot. On the left was Kelsey Katz, at the back was Larry Dundha, and his two hoodlums were on the other side.
- After I sat down, I could feel an extremely sharp gaze on my back.
- Tessa Katz started to teach.
- Because I dropped out of school halfway and my results weren't great, I didn't understand at all. I was feeling a little lost; not knowing what Tessa Katz was talking about.
- While I was in a daze, a little finger suddenly jabbed me.
- It was my deskmate.
- What did she want?
- After staring at the girl for a while, I realized that she was the one I grabbed to ask for directions.
- She looked a little quiet. She had an oval face and a pair of big eyes that were extremely bright. She was a standard beauty and had a great body. She was only a high school student but over time, she would become a stunner.
- As expected of an elite school.
- The girl quickly wrote on a piece of paper and then passed it to me.
- Lydia Baxter!
- Two words were written gracefully. Lydia Baxter. Was that her name? It was a name that sounded quite nice.
- Then another row of words appeared.
- 'Do you know Kelsey Katz? Do the two of you have bad blood?'
- I was thinking about how to answer this. It absolutely couldn't be revealed that Kelsey Katz was my daughter. What a joke, being in the same class as my own daughter? Even though she was my stepdaughter.
- Just as I took a pencil and was about to concoct an excuse, I suddenly felt something hit my head. A ball of paper rolled on my desk.
- I picked up the ball of paper with suspicion. When I opened it, I felt my body quiver violently and shiver.
- There was only one word on the ball of paper.
- Thief!
