Chapter 1 The Wolf Emperor
- "There's no better time to train than now when the weather's getting rougher and the environment's getting tougher. As a soldier, you must train hard to not fail your country and people."
- Jett Grayson stood at the stage and shouted loudly.
- "Yes, sir!"
- "Ready!"
- "One, Two, Three, Four!"
- "One, Two, Three, Four!"
- "Start!"
- "Ho! Ha! Ho! Ha!"
- The army of warriors roared!
- On a pitch-black night, a group of passionate bare-chested warriors was training in the snow under the moonlight. They shouted and punched fiercely with fluid movements. Despite the cold winter night, they continued to shout passionately at the top of their lungs.
- It was October, and most of Freedonia was still going through the intense heat of summer. Yet, it had already started snowing in the northwest frontier. The terrifying sound of the north wind blowing was a contrast to the excited cries of the warriors.
- Jett was wearing a military green coat and stood tall and proud like a pine tree! His facial features were clearly sculpted and his bright eyes showed hints of determination and wisdom.
- He lowered his hat while looking at the training warriors, and then gazed at his surroundings as he murmured, "It's been six years, and tomorrow I will temporarily leave the military camp, leaving behind the passionate moments we had and the laughter and joy…"
- Jett Grayson, 26 years old, was the only person in the Freedonia Empire to be appointed as a five-star general before 30 in the past 300 years. A legend in the military, a belief amongst soldiers, and a nightmare for his enemies. He enlisted by age 20 and became the captain of the special forces team at 22. When he turned 25, he founded Freedonia's most mysterious and powerful special forces organization - the Imperial Wolves.
- As the founder, Jett was titled as the Wolf Emperor, with ten Wolf Lords under him and commanding 500,000 lion-ranked warriors in the northwest frontier. The Imperial Wolves had the power to execute without the imperial order and were the deadliest weapon of the empire. They would not answer to anyone except the Wolf Emperor.
- "General Grayson! Are you really leaving for tomorrow? What if the enemy tries to make a move when you're gone?"
- There were clearly two voices on the stage, but only one could be seen. That was because the one who spoke was actually one of the ten Wolf Lords, the Hidden Wolf - Bernard Kennedy. The Hidden Wolf usually camouflaged himself in the darkness, making it difficult for people to find them.
- Jett groaned. "After six years of serving in the military, I have fulfilled my duty to the country and the organization, but I have yet to fulfill my duty to my family!"
- He missed his uncle's strict lessons and care, along with his wife's kindness and beauty. Throughout the countless gunfire, smoke, and wars, his family was the only reason that kept him alive. However, if he had to say another reason, it would be revenge!
- Suddenly, Jett raised his head and stood upright with a determined face. He said confidently, "If the enemy attacks, I'll raise my flag and show them the power of the Wolf Emperor! I may be far away, but I will eliminate them nonetheless!!"
- As the first Wolf Emperor, Jett knew that countless forces wanted to divide Freedonia, but the coast should be clear for now, as he had just defeated several powerful countries, which should deter them for a while. This was also why he wanted to use this time to visit his family.
- "What about the investigation?"
- Perhaps it was because he would see his family tomorrow, Jett asked with a hint of anticipation.
- The question took Bernard aback, and he suddenly felt something stuck in his throat. He struggled to find the words to respond as the news he had received filled him with rage. General Grayson often walked between life and death to protect civilians, but he did not expect these bastards would do such unforgivable things. Nonetheless, he had no choice but to report the truth.
- "I…"
- "Just say it," Jett calmly said.
- Bernard tried his best to calm himself down by letting out a sigh. He reported hesitantly, "General Grayson, your uncle's company declared bankruptcy a year ago, and his legs were broken after getting beaten up by the son of the Dickens family. He remains bedridden to this day. On the other hand, your wife was shunned by her family and was almost kicked out, and…"
- At this point, Bernard's voice was already trembling.
- "And what? Say it!"
- Jett had realized that terrible things had happened to his family over the past few years. He knitted his brows, and his heavy breathing sounded like a volcano, ready to erupt out of anger.
- Bernard tried to calm himself down again as he nervously continued on, "Ge-General Grayson, according to reports, your wife was pregnant, but in her 7th month, someone disemboweled her… it is still unknown if the baby is still alive."
- Disemboweled! The news hit Jett like a lightning strike! Before Bernard even finished talking, he felt Jett's anger seeping out from his body, like a dynamite that could explode at any moment and at the same time accompanied by a cold chill that could suffocate anyone near Jett.
- Bernard had not seen General Grayson so angry before, but he knew of the saying: "Thousands will fall under the rage of General Grayson!". In six years, General Grayson had built a name for himself from nothing and won countless wars, becoming a terrifying figure feared by many of his enemies.
- "Crack, crack, crack!"
- Jett remained silent as he stared at the night sky. He clenched his fists tightly, causing his joints to crack and his nails to dig deep into his skin. He forced himself to hold back his tears, not wanting to let them fall. Yet, without noticing it, a teardrop slipped down from the corner of his eye.
- As the saying goes, men only cry when they reach a point of heartbreak, sorrow, anger, regret, pain… Jett took a deep breath, reflecting on his rough journey in life so far.
- Jett was once the heir to a wealthy family in Martin City. At the age of ten, his mother died unexpectedly. That same year, his grandfather returned from overseas and arranged another marriage for his father. Despite his mother's recent death, his father happily accepted the marriage. Then toward the end of that same year, one night, Jett remembered being hit on the head and someone injecting him with an unknown substance on his arm. Soon after, he was found breathing hard and left in a landfill.
- Perhaps it was not his time to die, or that Hades knew he had unfinished business, he was not taken away by death yet. A few days later, he woke up in Cleckherville, a city thousands of miles away from Martin City, and the person who saved him was his uncle. In Cleckherville, Jett lived with his uncle and met a kind girl who lived beside them. Unlike other children, she did not tease him for being a bastard. Instead, she always shared her snacks and toys with him. Soon, they became childhood sweethearts, and despite her family's opposition, they eloped and his wife even threatened to lose her life to be with him. This was his wife, Chloe White.
- It took some time for her parents to compromise, but only if he was willing to stay with the White family.
- At that time, he felt that it was a fair deal. Although he might not be able to enjoy his life as a wealthy heir, he now had a loving and beautiful wife. Even if he had to live with the White family, he would still have no regrets! However, good times can only last for so long.
- The day after their marriage, a sudden change of events led him to be framed and imprisoned by the Lacewell family of Cleckherville. In a moment of desperation, his uncle had to use all of his connections to enlist him as a soldier at the northwest frontier. Otherwise, he would have spent his entire life in prison.
- In six years, he went from a new recruit to the powerful and feared Wolf Emperor, but he could not contact his family due to his unique identity. With the war subsiding, he wanted to go home for once, but he did not expect to receive such heartbreaking news.
- After a long while, Jett clenched his fists, and his cold eyes were filled with the intention to kill. He uttered out, "Who did it?"
- "Your uncle was beaten by the young master of the Dickens family, Rolf Dickens, while your wife's miscarriage was done by her cousin, Bryson White."
- "Curse them!"
- Jett's anger grew as his face reddened. "Follow me to Cleckherville tomorrow."
