Chapter 24 Until Death Do Us Part

• A frosty chill took over Jett’s expression as soon as he read Chloe’s brief text message. She had told him that her father had fainted and was being sent to the hospital right now, before asking him to come over.
• “Damn it!” Jett cursed out loud. He had returned to Cleckherville in part to protect his family and to find out the truth. He had made a promise to himself to never let anyone hurt his wife or her family, but he never expected something like this to happen.
• He rushed to the hospital immediately, arriving half an hour later. The hospital was quite empty in the late hours of the night. There was a long corridor outside the emergency room. In the quiet of the night, Jett could easily hear the shuffle of feet against the sterile hospital floor. He followed the sound, only to find Chloe and Janet leaning on each other in a quiet corner. Chloe was trying her best to support Janet with her petite frame, and Janet looked as if she was about to pass out too. They both looked tired and worn out, yet their eyes never left the ER curtains.
