Chapter 3 Death Awaits Those Who Offend the Wolf Emperor

  • Jett wanted to take the two of them out to eat at noon.
  • However, Astor Lang objected and insisted that he eat at home because this was his first meal since returning.
  • Home!
  • Home, indeed. This is my home.
  • For ten years, this place had carried peals of his merry laughter.
  • He'd forgotten what home was after six years in the army.
  • Every holiday season, he would yearn for his loved ones while living alone as a stranger in a foreign land.
  • He would send his thoughts to the moon whenever he missed someone.
  • Astor's first wish upon his return was to eat with the family at home to celebrate the reunion.
  • Kimberley Lang whipped up a delicious meal not long after.
  • Even though the dishes were mundane, they all looked delicious.
  • "Well, the little lassie has grown up, and she can cook such delicious dishes!" Jett stole a bite.
  • "Kimberley? She didn't have much choice but to learn. Her food was truly inedible when she first learned to cook." Astor said it quietly, but she overheard him.
  • "You said you'd keep it a secret for me, Dad! Hmmph!"
  • "Haha! It makes no difference if Jett knows!"
  • The three ate happily, and Jett claimed it was the best meal he'd had in six years.
  • Jett learned after eating that Kimberley worked in a welfare home, so he told her to get back to work as soon as possible. When he left, he gave her a card.
  • "This card is for you, silly girl, and the password is your birthday."
  • "There's no need for it, Jett. You should put that money toward Dad's treatment." Kimberley flatly refused to accept the card.
  • Jett smiled as he shook his head. Greg Dorian, the miracle doctor, did not require payment for his treatments. Even if he did, he wouldn't be able to spend all of his money because he was already extremely wealthy.
  • "Take it. There's more where that came from!"
  • Since she could tell he was determined, Kimberley agreed to take the card, but she never considered using the money on it.
  • "Jett, I'm going to leave now." Happily, like a bird, she zipped off on her electric bike.
  • Jett walked slowly over to the bedside.
  • "Jett, are you sure I'm not keeping you from your affairs?"
  • "It's all right, Uncle Astor. I came here on purpose."
  • "Okay. So long as I don't get in the way. Your mother can now rest easy in the heavens. It's a shame... Sigh…” Astor sighed as his lips began to quiver slightly.
  • Jett knew what Astor was going to say. "Uncle Astor, you are not to blame. I'll do a thorough investigation."
  • He sensed that his mother's passing was more complicated than a simple accident.
  • Who is out to get me? At the time, I was only ten years old. Who is it that is so vicious that he won't even let a young child of ten years old go?
  • Night fell quickly.
  • Hidden Wolf appeared next to Jett and spoke quietly.
  • The two showed up at Paladin International Hotel half an hour later.
  • Meanwhile, inside a hotel room at that time…
  • "Useless! Elliot Hall, you're useless. You cannot manage something as simple as repossessing a house. Were a disabled person and a mere meek woman too much for you to handle?"
  • Rolf Dickens was fuming with rage.
  • "Who is the other guy? He struck my people—how dare he!"
  • When Rolf first met Kimberley a year ago, he was captivated by her and vowed to win her heart. He had pursued her numerous times but had always come up empty-handed.
  • As a result, he devised a plot to assassinate Astor. Without her father around, he could easily snare her. It would be like taking candy from a baby.
  • He didn't think Astor would survive the assassination attempt. He'd come out of it disabled. That wasn't so bad, though. Kimberley would surely sleep with him if he stepped up and helped at the right time.
  • Kimberley, unexpectedly, would rather mortgage the house than accept his assistance.
  • As such, you will undoubtedly follow me when the house gets seized without making a peep.
  • When he told Elliott to seize the house today, he didn't anticipate that he would return bruised and bloodied.
  • "Mr. Rolf, I'm not sure who it is, but he's dressed in an army combat uniform and doesn't appear to be from around here. It's likely that he had recently received his army discharge."
  • "Discharged, you say? So he's probably never heard of me. He had better not let me run into him, or I'll cripple him!"
  • Rolf clenched his teeth. His ace was gone in an instant. He briefly focused all of his rage on Jett.
  • They were about to resume their conversation when they heard a noise from the door.
  • "I apologize, sir. You can't enter because you don't have an invitation letter." Jett and Bernard Kennedy were stopped from entering by the door guard.
  • "Who are these two people? Why are they wearing this clothing to the banquet? Is it possible that they are beggars?"
  • "It goes without saying! Look at all the people who have gathered for the banquet! Everyone is exquisitely dressed to the nines! The Lacewell family is one of the four great families, and today is Gabriel Lacewell's 50th birthday," the onlookers commented.
  • "We are Gabriel Lacewell's old friends and have come to celebrate his birthday. This is a birthday present." As Jett spoke, he pointed to the box in Bernard's hand and rubbed his chin out of habit while letting out a small smile.
  • "Sorry, but you won't be able to enter without an invitation letter!"
  • "Make way! Make way! What's going on?" Rolf led Elliot out.
  • The door guard recognized Rolf and immediately nodded and bowed, saying, "Mr. Rolf, two people are causing a ruckus, and they want to enter without an invitation letter. They claim to know Mr. Lacewell and have come to present him with a gift."
  • "Damn it! Who has the audacity to cause chaos on a day like today? Show yourself."
  • When Elliot poked his head out from behind Rolf, he saw Jett.
  • In a moment of slight panic, he yanked Rolf to the side.
  • "It's him, Mr. Rolf. He's the one who hurt me."
  • "What? Is that him? Okay, I'll teach him a lesson for you."
  • Rolf returned from abroad two years ago and had never met Jett.
  • "You! Are you the one who thrashed my people like this?" Rolf yelled at Jett while acting as though he were the world's most powerful person.
  • Bernard rushed forward, intent on beating him up.
  • No one dared to offend the Wolf Emperor in such a way; anyone who did so would be executed without mercy.
  • Jett stopped Bernard. He looked uninterested as he spoke, "Nobody can ever talk to me like this. Who are you?"
  • "Hahaha! Are you a moron? You don't even know who I am? I'm Rolf Dickens, the Dickens family's young master!"
  • "They can't possibly be from Cleckherville. They have no idea who Mr. Rolf is."
  • "That's right. They appear to have enraged Mr. Rolf. It appears that their demise is close at hand!"
  • People around him were talking, but Jett didn't seem to hear them.
  • "Oh? You are Rolf Dickens?"
  • He had intended to look him up and cause him trouble at first. He never expected trouble to find him.
  • He purposefully wore a puzzled expression, which Rolf saw as humiliating.
  • Nothing and no one in Cleckherville could make him feel humiliated.
  • "Asshole, I'm Rolf Dickens." As he said that, he raised his huge fist to strike him.
  • A single jarring note in conversation would set off a chain reaction of fists and kicks. That was how the four great families ruled—by force.
  • A figure appeared out of nowhere in front of him. Bernard was already gripping his fist with one hand before he had time to process what had just happened.
  • Jett then smacked him across the face twice.
  • "Was it you who caused Astor harm?"
  • For a brief moment, Rolf was stunned. Someone had the audacity to strike him. He swore, "Son of a bitch! You dare to strike me! You will not be able to walk out of here, believe it or not!"
  • He heard two cracking sounds before he finished his sentence. Rolf fell to the ground after having broken both of his legs. He knelt, rooted like a pair of chopsticks.
  • Jett knelt to look at him. Cold seeped into his eyes, and his tone was icy as he said," I said no one could talk to me like this. Since you are to blame for what happened to Uncle Astor, I'll damn you to hell."
  • Jett pressed both hands on his head and casually twisted it after he finished speaking.
  • "Crack!" was all that was heard.
  • Rolf's neck was broken, and his eyes were open wide. He had died with his eyes opened.
  • Wow! That was a shocking scene.
  • "Dead! Mr. Rolf is dead!"
  • "Ah! Murder!"
  • Suddenly, panic broke out at the door, and several timid women fainted.
  • Naturally, when the guards at the door ran inside, they called for reinforcements.
  • “Thunk! Thunk! Thunk!”
  • There was the sound of hurried footsteps coming closer.
  • "Mr. Lacewell, Mr. Huxley! H-He killed Mr. Rolf." With fear in his voice, the security guard pointed at Jett.
  • "Do you know who you messed with, boy?"
  • "Kneel before me! First, kowtow three times to admit your error, then kill yourself!" A very domineering tone pervaded Huxley's speech.
  • The four great families are first-class families in Cleckherville, a third-tier city, and today someone dared to commit murder at the Lacewell family's birthday banquet. Furthermore, the victim was a member of one of the four great families—the young master of the Dickens family.
  • That was a real kick in the teeth for them.
  • It was already regarded as a mark of respect to have the other person kowtow three times before killing him.
  • The corner of Jett's mouth twitched. Then he turned around and said in a cold voice, "Gabriel, Huxley, do you still remember me?"
