Chapter 14 New Hope
- When Yvonne descended from upstairs, Janet was busy tidying up the tableware.
- Upon seeing Yvonne, Janet stopped what she was doing and asked, “What happened up there? Why all the noise? It sounds like a quarrel.”
- “Mom, there's nothing to worry about.” Yvonne's spirits lifted. “Dominic is counseling him and treating him now. Give it some time. I promise you'll see a changed man.”
- She had naturally come to understand the good intentions behind Dominic's actions.
- “If Dom can really cure your dad's leg, then he truly is a great benefactor to our family.”
- A smile spread across Janet's face. She was filled with anticipation.
- Suddenly, she thought of something and looked intensely into Yvonne's eyes. “What's your opinion of Dom as a person?”
- Yvonne's face instantly turned red.
- She, of course, knew what her mother was thinking.
- After giving it some thought, she suddenly realized that not only was he handsome and wealthy, but he was also a doctor with impressive combat skills, giving her a strong sense of security.
- There was nothing to criticize at all.
- “He's pretty good,” Yvonne said softly.
- “Really? I think he's nice too.” Janet suddenly perked up, taking Yvonne's hand. “You're not getting any younger. It's about time you start thinking about settling down. You've finally met such a great man. Don't let him slip away.”
- As she spoke these words, she had already started envisioning a future where they were married and raising a child together.
- Just imagining such a life was brimming with excitement.
- Yvonne's face turned even redder.
- “Mom, what are you talking about? We just met today! Besides, whether or not he likes me is another story!”
- Dominic was truly exceptional. Not only was he handsome and well-built, but he was also wealthy and competent.
- And she was just an ordinary girl.
- Her inner insecurities prevented her from considering the question.
- With absolute certainty, Janet said, “Don't worry about this. He will definitely like you.”
- “How do you know?” Yvonne asked, a suspicious look on her face.
- “Intuition. Our women's intuition is always spot on. Plus, haven't you noticed? The way he looks at you is different from others,” Janet said with a gleeful smile.
- “Really?”
- Yvonne couldn't help but become lost in her memories.
- Meanwhile, in the study upstairs, Dominic twisted the gold needle and asked, “Mr. Litchfield, do you feel anything now?”
- “No.”
- Gregory shook his head, a hint of disappointment flashing in his eyes.
- Am I destined to face disappointment again?
- He had experienced disappointment many times already. Even though he had mentally prepared himself, the sense of loss still made him feel incredibly upset.
- Dominic's face remained serene. He simply nodded and twisted the gold needle again.
- That gold needle buzzed, appearing incredibly peculiar.
- “I'm feeling it now.” Suddenly, a rush of excitement flashed across Gregory's face. “I can feel a slight pain in my legs.”
- Of course, he was thrilled.
- Since he became paralyzed, this was the first time he had felt sensations in his legs.
- A smile surfaced on Dominic's face, as this was within his expectations.
- Just a while ago, he had once again utilized the Celestial Divine Needle technique, finally eliciting a response from Gregory's legs.
- This implied that there was a chance for Gregory's legs to heal.
- This mystical acupuncture technique had never once let Dominic down.
- He chuckled and said, “Mr. Litchfield, don't get so worked up. This is actually good news. It shows that the nerves in your legs aren't completely damaged. There's still hope for recovery.”
- “Can my legs really be cured?”
- Gregory still appeared to be extremely agitated.
- At that moment, he truly saw hope.
- “It should be possible, given no surprises. However, it will take some time,” Dominic said with a smile.
- “It's all right. It doesn't matter how long it takes as long as I can stand up again.”
- After all these years of waiting, what's a little more time?
- Following that, Dominic devoted his full attention to assisting Gregory with his treatment.
- Gradually, over an hour had passed.
- Sweat began to bead on Dominic's forehead, and he started to feel somewhat fatigued.
- Such therapy was excessively draining even for someone as robust as Dominic.
- Fortunately, this round of treatment had finally come to an end. After Dominic removed the gold needle, he realized that Gregory had already fallen asleep in his wheelchair.
- He didn't wake him. Carefully and quietly, he left the room, closing the door behind him.
- Yvonne had come up again at some point, standing outside the door with Janet.
- “Shh, Mr. Litchfield is asleep,” Dominic said when he saw them.
- They descended the stairs together. Yvonne could hardly contain her curiosity as she asked, “How did it go?”
- Janet also waited with anticipation for Dominic's response.
- “Don't worry, I'm confident I can heal Mr. Litchfield's legs, but it's going to take some time,” Dominic said with a smile.
- Janet and Yvonne were instantly overjoyed, and they couldn't help but embrace each other.
- Both of their eyes were filled with tears, brimming with overwhelming emotion.
- Over the years, they had experienced their fair share of disappointments, and this time, they had mentally prepared themselves for the same outcome. However, upon hearing Dominic's response, they surprisingly found a glimmer of hope.
- Dominic's words had brought new hope to their world.
- “Thank you, thank you so much, Dom. I really can't thank you enough.”
- Tears streaming down her face, Janet suddenly gave a bow to Dominic.
- Yvonne also bowed in response.
- The favor was so immense that they couldn't conceive any other way to express their gratitude.
- Swiftly, Dominic supported Janet. “Mrs. Litchfield, please don't be like this. If you truly want to thank me, just cook a few more of your delicious dishes for me in the future.”
- “All right, all right, if there's something you want to eat, just let me know.”
- “Mrs. Litchfield, I'm feeling a bit tired. I'm going to rest now. You should also get some sleep soon,” said Dominic as he stifled a yawn.
- The treatment he had just given was truly exhausting. He really wanted to collapse on the bed and catch some sleep.
- “All right, you should go rest now.”
- “Goodnight!”
- The night passed quietly.
- The following day, Dominic woke up, having had a very peaceful sleep. He ventured outside his room, only to find that Janet had already prepared breakfast.
- Gregory had already risen and was currently having his breakfast.
- “Good morning, Dom!”
- Uncharacteristically, he flashed a smile at Dominic.
- “Good morning, Mr. and Mrs. Litchfield!” Dominic greeted.
- At the same time, Yvonne came down from upstairs.
- “Good morning!”
- “Good morning!”
- The two exchanged a glance, greeting each other.
- “You guys are up already? Come have breakfast!” Janet called out to the two.
- The atmosphere at this morning's breakfast was starkly different from last night's dinner.
- Everyone was chatting and laughing, thoroughly enjoying themselves.
- “Mom, Dad, I'm off to work,” Yvonne said.
- “Let me take you there,” Dominic offered, rising to his feet.
- “No need, I can go by myself,” Yvonne quickly said.
- Dominic had already done plenty for their family. It would feel inappropriate to ask him to drive her to work.
- “No way, I can't just let you go alone.” Dominic shook his head.
- I broke both legs of the son of the Sutcliffe family yesterday. There's no doubt that the other party won't let this go easily.
- What if those people secretly attacked Yvonne on the way?
