Chapter 39 The Butt Of The Joke

• Late in the afternoon, Yvonne stirred from her slumber. She slowly opened her eyes, her gaze abruptly colliding with the stark whiteness of the ceiling overhead, which left her momentarily disoriented and taken aback.
• As she lay there, the troubling events of the morning rushed back to her. The vivid recollection was so terrifying that it drained the color from her face. With a sense of urgency, she hastily climbed out of bed.
• Glancing around, the surroundings seemed familiar yet distant. It was only then that it dawned on her that she was in her own home, specifically in the place that Dominic had rented for them.
