• “Leave...” Xavier said, staring at Cody, his voice filled with determination. I watch Cody nod his head as he leaves, but before turning his face to get one last look at me, a flicker of regret is evident in his eyes.
• I sighed seeing. Xavier cleans his jaw, clearly holding back his emotions. “I don’t want you,” I said, trying to get up, but Xavier placed a firm hand on my shoulder, stopping me. “It’s for the best,” he said softly, his eyes reflecting a mixture of sadness and relief.
