Chapter 7 Who Would Take Care Of Me?

  • When Angela was tired of browsing her phone, she finally paid attention to the man beside her. She wondered, "Why are you here?"
  • Maxwell explained in a soft and emotionless voice. He asked, "If you're in trouble, who's going to take care of me?"
  • Angela's voice quieted down, and she murmured, "What could possibly happen to me?"
  • She was shocked to find that Taylor and Regina had set up a trap for her when she returned to the villa. She might have fallen into their trap if she had not picked up the scents.
  • After she went home, she quickly contacted the lawyer from Quinn Corporation.
  • Stanley Coltone was the one who handled her mother's property when her mother was seriously ill.
  • When Angela asked about the ownership of Waterfront Villa, Mr. Coltone hesitated for a moment before he said, "Ms. Quinn, your mother's villa had been transferred to your father before she passed away."
  • "That's impossible!" Angela exclaimed. Her complexion changed drastically.
  • Mom wouldn't ever give Dad the villa. He had already moved in with his mistress at the time. How could Mom voluntarily give up her property?
  • "Ms. Quinn, it's true. Your father even gave me the contract at the time."
  • Angela reasoned, "Mr. Coltone, I always found her death suspicious. She was killed in a car accident and declared dead on arrival at the emergency room. There's no way she could have signed that agreement."
  • Mr. Coltone furrowed his brow. After Skyla's death, everything was taken care of in a hasty manner. He seemed to recall something when Angela brought it up now.
  • He said, "I'll contact the accrediting body. If the agreement wasn't signed by your mother, we can resolve this matter with ease."
  • The next day, Mr. Coltone brought bad news. He had no idea when Taylor had given the order, but none of the organizations could verify Skyla's handwriting.
  • This finding made Angela more convinced of her suspicions. She asked, "Mr. Coltone, what can we do now?"
  • Mr. Coltone sighed, "To be honest, Miss Quinn, I don't dare challenge Mr. Foster."
  • Taylor almost caught him when he took the agreement to the institution.
  • Taylor was the President of Quinn Corporation, and everyone was terrified of him. He would get rid of anyone who got in his way.
  • Angela understood Mr. Coltone's difficulties, but she was disappointed.
  • Maxwell had just taken a bath and exited the bedroom. He had overheard Angela's phone conversation.
  • He pulled out a cigarette, lit it nonchalantly, and held it between his fingers.
  • Angela was startled when she saw him.
  • How could he walk around without a shirt on?
  • Maxwell only wore a pair of dark shorts after he took a bath. His upper body was slightly wet, and there were a few drops of water remaining on his ripped chest. This man looked sexy and seductive.
  • Angela's cheeks turned red. She was surprised that he looked slim when he had clothes on, but he had a muscular chest when he undressed. It was the result of consistent exercise.
  • Suddenly, his deep voice was heard, "Do you like what you see?"
  • Angela blushed a little.
  • She was hesitant to sleep with him the first time. It took place in a car with dim lighting. She hardly ever gets a clear view of him. She was now aware of his attractiveness and perfect proportions.
  • His fashion sense was refined and gave off an air of luxury.
  • It was not a bad thing to have a good-looking husband.
  • Angela rebuked her and pretended to be mad, "What? I can't even look at you? Don't forget that I'm the one that is supporting you now."
  • Maxwell raised an eyebrow.
  • This woman truly believes I am a poor man. Well, it's something new and interesting to be taken care of by her.
  • He moved closer to her and wore a playful smile on his face. He teased, "Of course you can. Whatever you want to see, I'll show you, Mrs. Xander."
  • Angela saw that his hand was undoing his shorts. Her face instantly burned up. She gasped in surprise and turned her head away shyly. She warned, "Hey! Stop messing around!"
  • Angela realized she had been playing when she heard his low laugh come from behind.
  • She turned around in annoyance, but Maxwell had cornered her.
  • He was content with her shy expression. She was as innocent as a blank sheet of paper when it came to the matter between men and women.
  • He had investigated her background. His wife had a boyfriend around a year ago, but that man went abroad later.
  • He said, "Hmm, don't worry. I won't do anything to you unless you give me permission, but Mrs. Xander, I'm a normal man. I hope…you won't make me wait too long."
  • After a while, Maxwell distanced himself, but he had stirred up waves in her heart.
  • I have to admit, his allure is hard to resist. I can't love him, though, despite everything. I already have my fair share of pain in love. I no longer dare to give it all again.
  • Maxwell's wounds showed signs of splitting open at night.
  • Angela redressed it for him. She knew he was in great pain and had to be very careful every time she changed his dressing. She urged, "You have to bear with it. I'm going to re-stitch your wound, it's going to hurt."
  • "Okay," he replied coldly.
  • Despite Angela's careful attention to the wounds, Maxwell's pain tolerance was extremely low. Every time her needle touched his flesh, he would shiver in pain.
  • Suddenly, he pushed Angela away and roared, "Stay away from me."
  • Angela frowned but did not move. On the contrary, she held onto his wrist.
  • He glared his bloodshot eyes at her and growled, "Get lost!"
  • It was the first time she saw this side of him. He seemed like a different person.
  • "Maxwell, your wound needs to be treated. If it's too painful, you can bite me."
  • After she said this, Angela lowered her eyes and continued to focus on stitching his wound.
  • Her warm skin was close at hand, and he almost lost control of himself. Therefore, he opened his mouth to bite her.
  • Angela had mentally prepared herself, but it still hurt so much that tears rolled down her face. Even so, she was relieved to resew his wound.
  • She sighed in relief. He fainted in her arms the moment she let go of him.
  • Angela moved him onto the couch. She lowered her gaze and examined her thigh.
  • He had bitten her so hard that her hand was bleeding. After she treated her own wound, it took a long time before the pain went away.
  • Despite this, she knew that Maxwell's pain was a thousand, if not ten thousand, times worse than hers.
  • After re-bandaging Maxwell, she walked over to the herb cabinet. She had hand-picked, grounded, and made a scent pouch for him.
  • After that, she placed the pouch on Maxwell's chest.
  • When she turned around, he grabbed her wrist tightly. He had opened his eyes and pulled Angela into his arms when she was unprepared.
  • They were very close to each other.
  • Angela struggled to break free, but he warned, "Don't move."
  • She sensitively noticed that when she moved just a little, Maxwell's body temperature rose. Furthermore, because he had taken off his shirt, she could clearly feel the burning sensation on his skin.
