Chapter 4 Are You Not Afraid of Me?

  • Angela was stunned and took Maxwell's pulse.
  • When she checked on Maxwell yesterday, she found he got poisoned. It was just that she did not diagnose the specific toxicity. After seeing his symptoms, she could judge the poison type.
  • "That poisoner is too cruel," Angela muttered.
  • His pain got magnified, and even a slight trauma was enough to make the pain unbearable.
  • Moreover, now that the wound was deep. Even though Maxwell did not say a word, Angela felt distressed for no reason. The person who poisoned Maxwell wanted to torture him to death.
  • Could he have offended someone?
  • Recalling that when Maxwell was fighting just now, his moves were fierce. It seemed that he was poisoned and persecuted by his enemies. Angela immediately imagined a gangster story.
  • "Did you work in the underworld before?" Angela gulped and asked uneasily.
  • If so, it would make sense that Maxwell got poisoned. After all, those who were in the underworld must have many enemies.
  • Maxwell's silence was the default in Angela's eyes.
  • "You don't have to hide it. You can correct yourself. I won't let you go astray again."
  • Maxwell smiled teasingly. "I'm a bad guy. Are you not afraid of me?"
  • Angela looked at him calmly. "My dad is worse than you."
  • Waterfront Villa.
  • Even if Taylor returned, his complexion never looked good.
  • Regina Wood went downstairs in a lace nightdress. Although she was nearly forty, she was well-maintained and looked pretty.
  • Ten years ago, she was still a famous female star in the entertainment industry. She had constant drama appointments, won multiple awards, and looked like a goddess with her sexy and gorgeous image. However, a scandal of seducing a married man ruined her reputation. She completely disappeared from the entertainment industry for the next ten years.
  • Most people had no impression of Regina. But recently, as Taylor frequently took her out of high society, she had re-entered the public's attention.
  • "Tallie, was Angel quarreling with you? She was too ignorant. How could she run away from the wedding in public?"
  • Angela's marriage to Davian would fill in the recent capital vacancy at Quinn Corporation and be related to Davian. Quinn Corporation's position in Bruostan might be more stable.
  • "She'd been messing around!" Taylor slapped the table angrily. "She's married to a toy boy and doesn't want to come home!"
  • Although Regina looked disappointed for a while, she was full of joy in her heart.
  • "The children will always be disobedient when they grow up. Perhaps Angel also has her ideas. It's a pity we can't develop Quinn Corporation's next project. We haven't received the funds yet..." Regina sighed.
  • She was the best at sowing discord. After hearing that, Taylor hated Angela even more.
  • "But don't worry, I've comforted Mr. Gentry. He promised to come here tomorrow. As long as Angel comes back..." Regina whispered, "Mr. Gentry said that as long as Angel sleeps with him once, he can forget about the past and give us five million."
  • Davian did not plan to marry Angela before. He already had many mistresses. It did not matter whether he married or not.
  • Taylor's expression softened a little. "Are you serious?"
  • "Of course." Regina smiled alluringly. "But you have to get Angel back tomorrow night."
  • Taylor narrowed his eyes viciously. Recalling Angela's rebuttal, he sneered and told the servant, "Call Angela. Tell her to come back tomorrow night and pack her things. Don't get in the way!"
  • Meanwhile, Angela and Maxwell had returned to the residence near the medical center. Skyla bought that residence for Angela as a wedding house before she died. The decoration was warm and unique.
  • She rarely came here, so it was dusty everywhere. As soon as she entered the door, Maxwell sat on the sofa.
  • Angela was going to ask Maxwell to clean the house together. Looking at him, she found he lazily leaned on the sofa and exuded a deadly charm.
  • He always had an innate noble temperament. If Angela did not know that he was unemployed, she would have thought he was the CEO of a multinational company.
  • "Forget it. You're injured. I won't ask you to clean it."
  • Angela felt that Maxwell was pleasing to her eyes and did not want to spoil the scene until the servant of the Quinn family called her.
  • Hearing that she needed to go back and tidy her things, she felt angry.
  • It seemed that she was useless now, and Taylor wished there was no trace of her in the house, but Taylor seemed to have forgotten. The Waterfront Villa was given to Skyla by Byron back then!
  • After Skyla died, the ownership of the house reverted to Byron.
  • Angela clenched her phone tightly, and her eyes filled with chills. "Tell Taylor. The villa belongs to my mother. He needs to move out with Regina, not me!"
  • Angela had always been mild-tempered, but recently she was angered by Taylor many times, and her temper exploded.
  • Byron had told her that Taylor had nothing back then, but Skyla fought against the entire Quinn family before marrying Taylor and letting him own the Quinn family's property.
  • So, Angela did not take the surname Foster, but Quinn. Taylor was not only ungrateful, but even after Skyla passed away, he brought Regina into the house openly.
  • Angela was about to cry. She had always believed in her father to treat her well as always. This hope was about to disappear in her heart.
  • Hearing Angela's words from the servant, Taylor was pissed off again. "Ridiculous! Here is my territory! Throw her things now!"
  • Regina smiled contentedly. After the servant threw out Angela's things, Regina called the butler.
  • "Notify Angela to pick up all her trash tomorrow afternoon."
  • Regina chose good timing. Angela rushed over immediately after receiving the call.
  • She had lived in Waterfront Villa for many years. She had many personal items there. She did not expect that Taylor wanted to chase her away and threw things out.
  • Angela closed the medical center and hurriedly took a taxi. Suddenly, Maxwell's phone call came.
  • "I'm hungry." Angela was stunned by his words.
  • She remembered that she brought a box of instant noodles yesterday.
  • "I want a meal." As if knowing what Angela was going to say, Maxwell spoke first.
  • Angela was speechless. She could not go back now.
  • Moreover, Angela did not know how to cook. She was only good at herb modulation.
  • "My dad threw all my things out. I have to go home. Go out to eat by yourself. If you don't have money, I'll transfer it to you."
  • After speaking, Angela hung up the call and transferred Maxwell a hundred dollars.
