Chapter 2 Marry Me

  • Maxwell was about to grab Angela, only to realize that his arm could not exert strength. His eyes became colder.
  • Angela pouted in disdain when she saw his reaction. "What an ungrateful man! I've treated your wound and put anesthesia on it. Don't move."
  • If she had not been afraid the man next to Maxwell would shoot her dead, she would not have brought the trouble back.
  • Hearing that, Maxwell narrowed his eyes and finally looked straight at Angela. "You saved me?"
  • Angela was lowering her head and carefully bandaging the wound. Upon hearing that, she raised her eyes and looked at Maxwell's pale face.
  • It was undeniable that Maxwell's appearance was perfect, and he was handsome.
  • Angela consoled herself. Forget it. At least he's handsome. I didn't suffer losses.
  • Looking at the hickeys on Angela's neck, Maxwell was sure he had slept with Angela.
  • Tonight, his grandma drugged him to sleep with the daughter of the Lewis family. He noticed it and left. But he got attacked soon, and Angela entered his car.
  • He looked at her wrinkled wedding dress, recalled the scene of her escaping from marriage, and fell into thoughts.
  • Sensing Maxwell's gaze, Angela subconsciously covered her chest. Her wedding dress was a tube top design. She felt Maxwell was too impolite to stare at her.
  • Seeing her angry expression, Maxwell could not help but smile.
  • Suddenly, the phone rang abruptly. Angela frowned. Seeing that it was Taylor's call, she was about to hang up immediately.
  • However, she accidentally connected it.
  • "Angela! How dare you run away! Come back now!"
  • Cough!
  • Taylor suddenly heard Maxwell's cough from Angela's side.
  • Taylor was furious. "Where are you?"
  • Angela originally wanted to ignore Taylor.
  • Hearing Taylor's arrogant tone, she retorted, "That's not your business! Anyway, I won't marry Davian Gentry! I'm already married. If you want me to marry him, it's against the bigamy law! You care about reputation the most. You'll be embarrassed then! Go break that engagement!"
  • After speaking, Angela cut off the call.
  • She could not think of any way to stop Taylor, but after ending the call, she regretted it. Where could she find a man to marry her immediately to fool Taylor?
  • Suddenly, someone hugged her waist. Angela crashed into a strange embrace.
  • Angela struggled subconsciously. But although Maxwell was weak, he had strength.
  • "Marry me."
  • Angela looked at Maxwell in astonishment. He said it for granted and even had the aloofness of a superior.
  • "What did you say?"
  • "You saved me. I'll take the responsibility to marry you."
  • ...
  • Civil Affairs Bureau.
  • Holding the marriage certificate, Angela was still in a daze.
  • She married a strange man she had known for less than a day. And she only found out his name was Maxwell Xander when he signed the certificate.
  • Maxwell was tall and straight. His height was almost 6.2 feet, and his handsome face could attract girls' attention no matter where he went.
  • Angela could not deny that she had a bit of a crush on him. Coupled with being forced by Taylor, she was impulsive.
  • Maxwell took a photo of the marriage certificate with his mobile phone and sent it to his grandma.
  • He had no intention of getting married at first, and he was disgusted that his grandma kept arranging blind dates for him, but he accidentally slept with Angela last night.
  • His grandma taught him that a man must have a sense of responsibility.
  • Angela saved him last night, and he knew that it was her first time sleeping with a man. So he would be responsible for her and could stop his grandma from introducing girls to him.
  • "By the way, where is your home? What is your job? In case my dad asks me about it."
  • The purpose of Angela marrying Maxwell was only to deal with Taylor. Although she slept with Maxwell last night, she knew nothing about him and would not develop feelings for him.
  • "My home is out of town." Maxwell raised his eyebrows meaningfully. "Currently unemployed."
  • The Xander family was in Ofriuqua, but now his elder brother was in charge of the Xander Corporation. He would not be going back for the time being.
  • "No job? What about your income source? Are you still relying on your parents?" Angela looked at Maxwell suspiciously.
  • Could it be that he's a toy boy?
  • "Do you dislike me for being poor?" Maxwell narrowed his eyes with interest.
  • Ever since he was sent abroad at eighteen, his father cut off his source of income and left him to fend for himself. However, at that time, he had already started his own business. His property had already exceeded tens of billions.
  • Angela bit her lips. Of course, she would not dislike Maxwell being poor. She only worried that he would be lazy.
  • "It doesn't matter if you're poor. I never want to find a rich husband. After all, a man will become bad after he has money."
  • Back then, Taylor married into the Quinn family with nothing. Later, as he gradually took power in Quinn Corporation, he became arrogant and even dared to cheat on Skyla.
  • So, Angela hoped her husband was not rich and powerful, as long as he had a good character and ordinary life was enough for her.
  • "If you don't have a job, you can work in my medical center."
  • Upon hearing that, Maxwell finally changed his calm and cold expression. He smiled casually. As a billionaire, it was the first time he was assigned a job.
  • "Okay, how much will you pay?" Maxwell raised his eyebrows.
  • Angela was stunned. "The basic salary is three thousand dollars."
  • That was the amount she paid for the temporary worker before. She did not earn much money. She treated the nearby residents and sometimes did not charge consultation fees.
  • Maxwell frowned. Three thousand dollars was only enough for his one meal.
  • Seeing Maxwell's dissatisfied expression, Angela was a little annoyed. "Do you think it's too little?"
  • Maxwell would not think that, but he usually earned hundreds of millions.
  • He smiled jokingly and answered lazily, "I'm fine with it, but I have no place to live now. I have to move to your house."
  • "Then I'll deduct the rent from your salary. I'll only pay you two thousand!"
  • "Ms. Quinn, we're married. It's natural for us to live together. Don't count it so clearly."
  • Maxwell pinched her chin. The danger in his eyes made Angela shudder.
