Chapter 7
- •AURORA POV•
- For Christ's sake, what is wrong with this Matteo guy…!!
- Why would anyone stare at me sleeping that’s so creepy and annoying. The scent of an unknown person tickled my nose while was asleep. I admit I’m a deep sleeper for the most part and didn’t hear his knock, but the scent was vaguely familiar which was why I woke up and I was right. He looked so good while looking at me I won’t lie, there’s this part of me that wants to accept him as my husband because it’s not his fault we’re in this situation, it’s our parents. We are just to fulfill our duties for the future of our both empires. He looked dashing while looking at me, I took a minute to just scan his face and God did a good job while creating him. Too bad he has a shitty attitude that gets on my very last nerves.
- I quickly change into a comfortable outfit that consists of a sweatshirt and tight jeans, packing my hair in a messy bun and wearing a pair of Converse to take a stroll outside by the garden. I'll be turning that place into my new favorite spot soon, it’s just so beautiful and calming to be there just like this morning.
- I stop by the kitchen on my way out and run into Bella, Matteo’s sister, she’s the first daughter I guess tho I notice she’s a very reserved person but it’s fine, she’s a bit older than me and I might not have anything to say to her that will be meaningful as well.
- “Good evening Bella” I smile and greet her while seating myself on the chair by the counter. She smiles back and responds to me, “How are you Aurora? Didn’t see you the whole day after breakfast”.
- Oh so she talks, I thought her tongue was tied, but it’s fine as long as she’s the one asking the questions.
- “ I spent my time in the garden with Mother and slept for most of the afternoon, I guess I was still tired from yesterday’s events,” I respond taking a munch from the cookies that were on the table. I noticed her eyes widen a bit when I said the word “MOTHER”, doesn’t she like it?
- She nods responds to my answer and starts to leave the kitchen, not before saying “Have a nice time cognata” (sister-in-law) before flashing me a quick smile and leaving the kitchen in a hurry.
- Weird but cool too, though I wasn’t all that comfortable with her anyway.
- I finish the cookies in my hands and ask the chef for a bottle of water. Just when I was done I heard a very familiar voice drifting from the living room on the ground floor and rushed to check who it might be.
- Aunt Lia and Madame Evelyn walk hand in hand laughing about God knows what. The two women noticed me and paused their conversation but their faces held a warm smile besides for some reason I was happy to see my aunt, and I would use this opportunity to ask about my sister.
- “Come come, my princess, how was your day? Hope you weren’t too bored with my absence Ehn?” Madame Evelyn takes my hands and keeps questioning me about my day which I shyly answer “I slept off after you left me Mother and woke up not quite long ago”. Aunt Lia smiles at me and stretches her arms for a hug, a hug I rush to give her and Stay in that position for a while.
- “I’ll go up and change into something more comfortable, Aunt Lia, you should stay for dinner I know Aurora would want that too” Madame Evelyn smiles at us and leaves us giving us some privacy.
- “Mother? Since when Aurora?” Aunt Lia is surprised and at the same time, I sense jealousy. I laugh at her expression before replying to her, “Sei gelosa Zia Lia?” (Are you jealous Aunt Lia?).
- “No, I’m not, just saying…I mean I took care of you but all you over call me is Aunt Lia” She has a sad expression on her face making me feel bad about the situation.
- I take her to a nearby sofa and when we’re seated I hold her hands together and talk to her about it calmly.
- “Aunt Lia you’re getting it all wrong, she’ll be my mother-in-law soon and it’s only good I call her Mother, plus she doesn’t want me calling her Madame Evelyn as well. Don’t be so mad at me, I’m sorry if made you feel that way. You know I love you just like I would love my mom right?” I say this and a tear slips from her eyes. “I know my baby girl it’s just seeing you go and calling another Mother just stirs my feelings”. She pulls me in for another hug which lasts for a longer period than the first.
- We finally break the hug and we talk about everyone back home including my sister and my cousins who she tells me have been talking about me the whole day. We talk about everything and everyone except my Father. We have never really been on good terms so I couldn’t care less.
- “Your wedding date will be fixed by the end of this week and fittings will commence soon after, hope you’re ready for this?” Aunt Lia informs me and I nod hesitatantly.
- She notices my expression and tells me not to worry about anything and leave it all to her. That’s what I’ve always done anyway, leave all my problems to my aunt to sort them as she could do these things with so much ease. My cousins are so lucky to have her as their mom.
- Footsteps from the stairs make both I and my aunt turn towards the direction of the sound which reveals Matteo coming down from the stairs. His hair was a bit messy and wet which makes me guess he came straight from the shower. He wore a very casual outfit that consisted of an oversized shirt and loose pants. He looked like a whole meal.
- Oh my goodness Aurora what the heck?!
- Why are you thinking that way about this man?
- He strides calmly and casually to where I and my aunt are seated. My aunt rises to greet him,” Good evening Sir Matteo, how are you doing?”. He pulls out his hands for a handshake and responds “I’m doing great but would be much better if my soon to be wife isn’t always so tensed around me” giving me a sly smirk.
- My aunt laughs at his words and turns to give me a questioning glare which I just shrug back at her like it’s nothing. “Don’t mind her too much, she’s not used to people but will warm up to you sooner Mr Matteo” she said convincingly making a loud snort which earned me a glare from both of them.
- Their conversation is interrupted when Madame Evelyn and her daughters come down to join us asking us to join them in the dining for dinner.
- Dinner went calmly with conversations being thrown about and Madame Evelyn discussing my wedding details with my aunt. Bella remained quiet and focused on eating only joining in the conversation when she was being asked a question. Sofia on the other hand, a chatterbox, gave lots of suggestions for the decor and other wedding stuff while stuffing her face with food.
- Matteo was also very silent the whole time. He neither spoke to nor contributed to the wedding conversation, rather he placed his hands on his thigh although dinner and just ate. I don’t know why he loves doing that anyway.
- Aunt Lia left soon after dinner was over and Aunt Lia took her leave promising to reach out to me soon. Everyone parted ways in the living room leaving me together with Matteo.
- He turned to me and gave me that sly smile of his before pulling my face close to his “I believe I promised to give you a surprise when I’m back” in a low husky voice making me shiver to his voice and touch.
