Chapter 39

I feel so refreshed after taking a bath, I haven't had one in so long that I had forgotten what it felt like to be clean. I slip on the clothes that the woman had given me, a pair of black jeans and a simple white t-shirt. They fit me perfectly, which is surprising considering how skinny I am. I guess it's because the clothes are a bit baggy, but I'm just glad to have something clean to wear.
It was way better than the rags I wore at Mrs. Harpers, coupled with the abuse.
I sit on the bed, staring at the wall in front of me. I can't believe how much my life has changed in just a few days. I went from being a homeless, nameless girl to having a bed to sleep in, food to eat, and someone who cares about me.
