Chapter 32
- I spent the night in my motel room, with my heart racing and my senses on high alert. I was so afraid that someone would come knocking at my door, that I barely slept at all. Every little noise made me jump, and every shadow made my heart race.
- As the morning came, I found myself staring out of the window, watching the world go by. I felt like I was in a completely different world, one where I was free from the tyranny of my stepmother and her family. But at the same time, I was afraid that it was all going to come crashing down.
- I decided to stay in my room for the day, just to be safe. I didn't want to draw any attention to myself, so I kept the curtains closed and the lights off. I sat in my bed and stared at the ceiling, my mind racing with thoughts and worries.
