Chapter 4 Husband
- As fast as she was escorted into the house she was also escorted out of the house with those two hefty bodyguards flanking her two sides to make sure she did not escape.
- Even if she was given the chance to escape she knew well enough that she would not escape, not when her mother's life was now in the hands of her father.
- She knew just how evil, wicked, and heartless her father was. If a man can do what he was doing to his daughter then he can do almost anything and everything evil in the world.
- The rolls of cars came to a stop in front of a chapel and the car door was thrown open for her to come down by one of the bodyguards.
- Charlotte gathered her wedding gown in her hands and came down from the car, a bouquet was thrust into her arms and she fumbled for them before getting ahold of the bouquet.
- The door of another car was thrown open by a bodyguard and her father and stepmother came down and walked up to her.
- "It's your wedding day honey you need to smile, it will make you look more beautiful," her stepmother told her before turning to look at her father "Right darling?"
- "Of course, you need to smile now before others will say that you are being forced to get married. Dad is only doing this for your good. Don't worry you will thank me in the future when you start enjoying being a wife."
- Her father and stepmother walked ahead of her to the chapel while Charlotte followed behind them watching them with a cold look in her eyes.
- It seems like the people inside have been notified that the bride has arrived because the song playing quickly changed.
- Her father left her stepmother and came to her "Father will escort you to your beloved husband now."
- He gave her his elbow and she took it without a word, she forced a smile on her face as the door of the chapel was thrown open.
- Her gaze went to the altar quickly and what she saw there made her nearly stumble on her feet.
- Two men were standing there, one was in a wheelchair and had a mask on his face while the other was standing beside him looking all handsome in his best man suit.
- No one had to tell her twice before she was able to understand what was going on, the one in the wheelchair was the man she was getting married to while the one standing beside him was the best.
- Charlotte looked around the chapel and saw that there were only five people who came to attend the ceremony and she was quick to recognize one of the women.
- She is from the Moore family.
- Realization finally dawned on her as she realized that she had been asked to replace her sister for her wedding.
- Seven months ago when she met Bethany and Amarie, the both of them bragged about how she was going to get married and become the young madam of the Moore family.
- Charlotte has been jealous and wishes that she would also find such a good marriage partner someday.
- Charlotte smiled bitterly when she understood that she was representing her sister.
- Dalton is said to be charismatic and handsome so of course someone who was as superficial as Bethany would want him but now that he is disabled and scarred for life?
- Ha of course she will not want him again but since her family wants money and support from the Moore family, then they will have to sacrifice her.
- Charlotte felt a twinge of pity for the man in the wheelchair and realized that they were almost alike. When they were everything and very important, people ran after them to curry favor but now that they were facing some problems everyone was quick to abandon them.
- She; Charlotte, was abandoned by her family, and her friends quickly separated themselves from her when they saw that she was no longer the young Miss of the Enfield's family but a fallen heiress, and: Dalton was abandoned by his fiancé because he is now crippled and scarred.
- She told herself in her heart that she would take care of him and become his best friend and together they would live well and shame all those that scorned them, with this in her heart she smiled widely and started walking fast anticipating what was to come in the future.
- She grabbed his hand when her father placed her hand in his
- "Take care of my daughter Mr. Enfield" Hughes bowed to Dalton before walking off to stand beside her stepmom.
- Charlotte watched her father go and rolled her eyes, when she felt her husband's gaze on her she turned and gave him an innocent smile but he pursed his lips at her.
- She could feel the best man's gaze on her but she ignored him and turned to look at the priest that was going to join them together.
- The best man pushed her husband's wheelchair while she walked with him holding her husband's hands.
- At least he wasn't an old man, even if he was crippled and in a wheelchair he was young, she was going to check his medical records to know if he will be crippled for life or if he can walk again someday.
- "I do," Charlotte said without second thoughts when she was asked if she would stay with her husband for better or worse, for rich and for poor.
- She could feel the gaze of everyone but she ignored them and instead focused all her attention on her husband.
- She saw his eyes that was not covered by the mask widen for a split second before going back to normal. When it got to his turn he hesitated for a moment and Charlotte was surprised when she found herself holding her breath and praying for him to say yes.
- "Yes" his voice was soft and barely audible but she and the priest heard it.
- "With the power vested in me, I join you together in holy matrimony as husband and wife, you may kiss your bride."
- Charlotte used her free hand that was not holding the bouquet to push up her veil a little bit as she bent down and pressed her lips onto his cold thin lips.
- She felt him stiffen but she ignored it and continued to press her lips against his after some time she pulled back and with her face still close to his she opened her mouth and murmured
- "Husband".
