• When Alfred passed the final turn, reaching the longest straight stretch, he shifted up and poured it on to try to catch up with Kyle.
• That's when he felt it.
• The fatigue. The strain of his muscles complaining he'd abused them too much on the climb. He forced that pain aside as he couldn't afford it. It didn't matter how much he hurt.
