Chapter 14 The Sullivan Family Is In Dire Straits
- Cosmo poured a glass full of white wine and pushed it in front of Hazel. "Down this glass, and I'll pay you immediately."
- "Urk!" Hazel dry-heaved at the sight of alcohol. "I'm sorry, Mr. Russell, I… I really can't drink anymore. Please… return the money to me…"
- Cosmo's face instantly fell. "Do you know you're the first person to reject a drink from me?"
- The atmosphere became tense suddenly. Hazel had a bad feeling about it.
- She pushed herself up and said, "Mr. Russell, I… I don't want the money anymore. I'll have to… go back for a meeting. It's very important. I'll… I'll come and look for you another day."
- She stumbled toward the exit.
- Unexpectedly, Cosmo dashed in front of her and blocked the door. "Heheh, don't think you can escape from me. I already have my eyes on you! It's about time, brothers. Take out your phones and start recording. We'll revisit this moment for years to come. Haha!"
- Cosmo took off his jacket while his minions took out their phones and prepared to record videos.
- Hazel was aghast. She did not expect Cosmo to be so brazen.
- She gritted her teeth and prepared to barge her way through.
- However, Cosmo slapped her on the face, which caused her to fall backward and her mouth to bleed.
- Hazel instantly sunk into despair.
- Before she could dwell for too long in her despair, the door was kicked open with a bang as loud as thunder.
- Cosmo, who had been leaning against the door, was sent flying. His head knocked on the wall and instantly began to bleed.
- "Who the f*ck did that?" he roared.
- The people outside the door were Vance and Shelley.
- Vance scanned the room and said nothing. He walked straight to Hazel.
- Amid the tense silence of the room, Hazel saw a ray of hope.
- Vance helped Hazel stand up. "Are you okay?"
- Hazel wobbled and said drunkenly, "I don't… need your care. I don't need your pity… you must think I'm pathetic, right? Go… away!"
- Vance sighed. "If you want to cry, you can use my shoulder."
- Hazel immediately fell on Vance's shoulder and began to bawl her heart out. A line of snot streaked across her face, which was a big departure from her usual prim demeanor.
- "Who the f*ck are you?" Cosmo was furious. "You must have a death wish for ruining my party!"
- Vance glanced at Cosmo as though he were looking at a dead man. "She is my wife, and I have the legal right and moral obligation to protect her. If you break all four of your limbs, I'll spare your life."
- "Hahaha!" Everyone in the room erupted with laughter.
- Cosmo opened his legs wide and said, "How about I give you a chance? If you crawl between my legs, I'll let you leave here alive, what do you…"
- Before he could finish his sentence, Vance kicked his crotch.
- Cosmo flew five feet into the air. When he landed, he curled up in agony and gripped his crotch tightly, unable to make a sound.
- The blood that seeped through his fingers was a clear sign that he was no longer a man.
- Half a minute later, he managed to catch his breath. "F*ck… kill… kill him… I… I can't feel it anymore. Kill him! Kill the f*ck out of him!"
- His minions instantly converged upon Vance, but they were no match for him. They could not even see his punches before they were sent flying all over the room.
- Cosmo was dumbfounded.
- Isn't Hazel's husband a mere ex-con? Why is he such an expert fighter?
- Cosmo became more and more afraid as he watched Vance approach him step by step.
- "My… My father is Drago of the Desperados! If you dare lay a finger on me, he'll never forgive you…"
- "Your father? Even he has to bow to me and call me Uncle. Who do you think you are?"
- Vance gently tapped Cosmo's kneecaps with the tip of his toes.
- Crack! Crack! Cosmo's kneecaps instantly shattered, and the resulting cries were deafening.
- "Vance! Hazel! The Desperados will not rest until your families are razed to the ground!"
- Vance left the place with Hazel. As soon as they stepped into the car, Hazel passed out.
- Judging from her breathing, Vance could tell that Hazel had been drugged with a heavy dose. If he did not treat her soon, there would be side effects.
- It was too far away from the hospital. Vance brought her and Shelley to the Zenith Mansion.
- Shelley was once again shocked by what she saw.
- Vance is actually the owner of this legendary abode! He's more powerful and influential than I thought! It's a good thing that Hazel is unconscious. If she finds out that Vance is the owner of the Zenith Mansion, she won't divorce him for sure.
- Half an hour later, Vance finally expelled all the toxins from Hazel's body.
- "Her body is clean now, but she lost a lot of fluids. You should bring her to the hospital so that she can get an IV drip."
- "Okay," Shelley quickly left with Hazel.
- I'm only a loaded wage-earner, Hazel, but your family is wealthy. The only way I can change my fate is to marry Vance. Don't blame me for snatching your boyfriend.
- Later that night, Cosmo made an announcement on behalf of the Desperados.
- "The Desperados declare an all-out war on the Sullivan family!"
- Everyone in the Sullivan family was panicking when they heard the news.
- Since Arnold's 60th birthday, the Sullivan family had been hit by wave after wave of bad luck.
- Master Crane was right. The Sullivan family's luck had run out!
- The Desperados were the biggest criminal organization in Chevron. Even the mayor dared not touch them.
- The Sullivan family would not be able to defend against the Desperados even if they had ten times their numbers.
- They were furious when they found out that Vance was behind the incident again!
- Not only had Vance broken Cosmo's legs, but he had also taken away his manhood.
- Cosmo was Drago's only son. Drago would definitely be out for blood this time.
- The Sullivan family cursed Vance to hell and back!
- To them, only two options remained.
- The first was to find Master Crane's disciple and ask him to resolve the crisis.
- The second was to run away so that no one got hurt.
- How were they going to find Master Crane's disciple though, if they had not been able to find him so far?
- Arnold made a resolute decision: The entire Sullivan family would run away in the middle of the night and abandon all their property.
- Fortunately for them, all hope was not lost.
- Minutes before they fled from the house, the butler brought good news: There was a clue to Master Crane's disciple's whereabouts.
- The Avatar of War had announced that his mentor was the current owner of the Zenith Mansion on Nimbus Hills.
- Arnold was already crying tears of gratitude. "Looks like we're not fated to die yet! Let's go and visit Master Crane's disciple… No, my son-in-law, now!"
- If Master Crane's disciple could tame the Avatar of War, subduing the Desperados would be a walk in the park.
- Arnold brought Daryl and Hazel and headed toward Nimbus Hills.
- On the way there, Hazel sent a message to Vance. "You should run away, Vance. Leave as far as you can and don't come back. We'll settle Cosmo for you. If you find yourself in trouble again, and I'm still alive, you can come back and look for me."
- Vance smiled. "Of course not. I haven't paid back my debt to you yet. I wonder where you are now?"
- Arnold, Daryl, and Hazel arrived at the plaza in front of Zenith Mansion.
- Arnold was apprehensive as he looked at the palatial residence before him.
- "I hope things will go well for us."
- He began to walk toward the Zenith Mansion with the help of his walking stick.
- Before he could take three steps, he heard the roar of an engine behind him, a loud crash, and cries of agony.
- "What!"
- Arnold immediately turned his head around. His face instantly turned pale, and he fell to the ground sitting.
- A luxury sports car had crashed into Daryl and Hazel and sent them flying!
- Hazel fell over the edge of the cliff.
- Fortunately, Daryl landed on a tree, though he was covered in blood.
- "Hazel!"
- Arnold cried out and looked over the cliff.
- He could not see the bottom of the cliff, and Hazel was nowhere to be found.
