Chapter 2 Badger Game

  • Vance sat down on a chair. "You're the one who put up the mother ad, right?"
  • "That's right."
  • "Mm. Why don't you call your husband over?"
  • "What? Why do you need him here?" The woman was confused.
  • "Why else? I'll cure whatever's ailing him so you two can have a child."
  • The woman broke into laughter. "Stop pulling my leg."
  • "I'm not pulling your leg. If your husband can impregnate you, you wouldn't need to ask another man to help."
  • "Heh, looks like I've caught an idiot." The woman laughed out of anger.
  • Suddenly, four burly men barged into the room.
  • "How dare you flirt with the Boss's wife? You must have a death wish! On the floor now, and hands over your head. Call your family to bring a hundred thousand dollars over. Otherwise, you'll be going home in a body bag."
  • Vance realized what was going on. Donald the crime lord had once told him about the "badger game".
  • "Hands over my head? No thanks!" Vance chuckled.
  • In one swift action, he grabbed the heads of two men and slammed them together.
  • Bang!
  • The two men slumped on the floor.
  • The other two men were furious. "F*ck! You must have a death wish for beating up Lobo!"
  • They charged toward Vance.
  • Vance gently kicked the plastic wastebasket next to him, and something strange happened.
  • The plastic wastebasket was supposed to be soft and pliable, but it was shooting forward with the force and intensity of an iron cannonball.
  • The wastebasket sent the two people flying, and they fell on the floor wailing in pain.
  • The wastebasket, on the other hand, was unscathed.
  • "Lobo!" the woman cried out and went to help the leader of the men stand up.
  • The man called Lobo spat out a mouthful of blood and glared at Vance. "How dare you! You'll die today!"
  • "That guy is a tough one, Lobo. Why don't we call Lord Tigre over?"
  • Lobo hesitated for a while before taking out his phone. "Lord Tigre? Help us! We're in trouble!"
  • In less than ten minutes, a burly man with an impressive mutton chop beard arrived at the room. Behind him were several dozen men.
  • That man was Tigre, the second-in-command of the Desperados. People usually knew him as "Lord Tigre".
  • The Desperados were the biggest faction in Chevron's criminal underworld!
  • Tigre scanned the room and could figure out what happened. He kicked Lobo angrily and said, "You with your stupid antics again! Haven't I given you enough pocket money?"
  • "Sorry, Lord Tigre," Lobo said, feeling ashamed of himself.
  • Tigre turned around to face Vance. "It's their fault for scamming you, but you hurt my men, and you have to pay the price. If you break your own hands, I'll spare your life."
  • Vance glanced at Tigre's forehead and said, "Your forehead is slanted, and your brow ridge is slightly drooping. It's a rare occurrence, but it shows that you're born impotent."
  • Tigre nearly popped a vein. His impotence was his biggest taboo. Now that the guy had mentioned it in front of his minions, he could not take it anymore.
  • Tigre threw a punch at Vance, but Vance grabbed his fist easily with his left hand. At the same time, he tapped several spots on Tigre's abdomen with his right hand and sent him flying with a palm strike.
  • "Your impotence is cured. That'll be a hundred thousand dollars, please."
  • Tigre's minions were furious. They were preparing to charge at Vance when Tigre roared out, "Stop! Everyone, stop right there!"
  • The men turned around and looked at Tigre, confused.
  • Tigre was grabbing his crotch, though he looked like he was almost moved to tears. "I… I can feel it now! Hahaha, it's getting hard! You're a miracle doctor! I apologize if we have offended you in any way…"
  • "Enough talk. One hundred thousand dollars, please," Vance said.
  • "Of course!" Tigre handed him a debit card without any hesitation. "This is a small token of my appreciation, Doc."
  • "Get lost. I want to take a nap," Vance said.
  • "Of course!"
  • Tigre realized he might be dealing with an unknown expert. He quickly led his minions away from the room.
  • "Wait, I still need help with something," Vance said. "I lost a canvas backpack. Help me look for it."
  • Tigre nodded eagerly. "Leave it to me. If I can't find it, I'll hand you my head on a platter."
  • The people quickly left.
  • As soon as they left the hotel, Tigre said, "Investigate his background for me."
  • "Lord Tigre, do you think he's someone important?" the woman asked carefully.
  • "You don't say? That kid might be an expert in the legendary ‘covert force'. Also, he's a miracle physician. He must be someone extremely important."
  • "Leave it to me, Lord Tigre," Lobo said while nodding.
  • The next day, Hazel came over to pick up Vance.
  • As soon as Vance stepped into the car, Hazel laid out the ground rules for him.
  • "Number one, no matter how my family pleads or threatens you, you cannot divorce me without my permission.
  • "Number two, if someone pesters me, you have to drive them away for me.
  • "Number three, if I divorce you, I don't want to hear a word of protest from you."
  • Vance nodded. "Agreed, but I have a rule for you."
  • "Speak."
  • "You cannot lust after me!"
  • "Get lost!"
  • Hazel's house was a small mansion in Chevron. It was her grandfather's 60th birthday today, and the entire extended family was gathered there.
  • Arnold Sullivan paced around the living room anxiously. Occasionally, he would steal glances at the front gate.
  • Some time later, the family butler appeared at the door.
  • Arnold's eyes lit up in excitement. He quickly went up to the butler and asked, "Rembrandt, have you found my granddaughter's groom yet?"
  • The butler shook his head. "We haven't found any leads."
  • Arnold looked disappointed. "Continue searching. Use whatever resources we have, and don't come back if you can't find him!"
  • Hazel's father was unhappy. "Father, it's the 21st century now. Why are we still bound to old-fashioned marriage contracts? That hermit won't be a suitable match for Hazel. They won't have anything in common."
  • "What do you know, Daryl?" Arnold chided. "I'm more worried that Hazel won't be suitable for Master Crane's disciple! Twenty years ago, when a crisis brought our family to the brink of ruin, Master Crane was the one who saved us from our enemies. He is an extraordinary person, and his disciple won't be your average Joe either.
  • "Also, Master Crane said that the family's luck will run out on my 60th birthday, and disaster will befall us once more unless his disciple marries a woman from our family. Sigh, if the disciple doesn't show up by today, we'll definitely be in deep trouble once again."
  • Daryl Sullivan was not sure how to react to that. As far as he knew, the family was prospering, and there was no way disaster would suddenly befall them.
  • Hazel stepped through the front door.
  • Upon seeing his granddaughter, Arnold's eyes lit up.
