Chapter 9 The Avatar of War
- Vance did not attempt to dodge the attack. He did not even look at it.
- Right before the Tyrant Whip would strike Vance's skin, covert force exploded from his body.
- Instantly, the Tyrant Whip was reduced to a pile of dust. Metal blades burst out in all directions.
- A metal blade pierced the scar-faced man's arm, which caused him to scream in pain.
- Staring at Vance incredulously, he thought, Are my eyes playing tricks on me? Was that… the legendary covert force? D*mmit, he's a master!
- The scar-faced man prepared to run away.
- With a flick of his wrist, two silver needles flew out from Vance's fingers and struck the back of the scar-faced man's knees.
- The scar-faced man fell on the floor kneeling.
- Vance stood up lazily and walked in front of the scar-faced man. "You should be able to contact Donald Wiltmoor, right?"
- The scar-faced man was paralyzed with fear. He instinctively nodded.
- "Mmm. Contact him then. Only he can save you now," Vance said.
- Back at the Arctic Dungeon, Vance contacted Donald through an internal line. Now that he only had an old-fashioned mobile phone with him, he could not manage to contact anyone inside the prison. If he could, he would not have been in such dire straits.
- "Yes, yes!"
- The scar-faced man did not want to die. He contacted Donald almost immediately.
- Very soon, Donald's face appeared on the screen of the scar-faced man's phone.
- "Mr. Wiltmoor! Please save me!"
- "Fancy the leader of the Desperados beaten and bruised like that, Drago. Your opponent must be someone powerful," Donald said coldly. "Show me their face. I might have some use for them."
- "Yes, yes."
- The scar-faced man handed his phone to Vance.
- Upon seeing Vance's face, Donald immediately fell out of his chair.
- The Living Reaper! Why is it him? This is a disaster! I thought I wouldn't have to see your face again after you leave prison!
- Vance smiled. "I see that you're sitting in my chair, Donny. Who gave you permission? Do you think you're the leader of the gang when I'm not inside"
- "It's not like that, Mr. Krauss. I miss you so much that I had to sit on your chair to reminisce about the good old days." Donald's voice was trembling. "By the way, how is Chevron? Do you like the Zenith Mansion I gave you?"
- "It's not bad. It would be better if these guys didn't disturb me," Vance replied.
- Donald seemed to have realized something. "F*ck! Drago, don't tell me you went looking for trouble with Mr. Krauss!" he roared. "Now go dig a hole and bury yourself in it. Do it now! Not a minute later! I'll kill your entire family if you don't!"
- Drago was on the verge of a breakdown.
- Why is Mr. Donald Wiltmoor, the undisputed crime lord, so respectful toward Vance? Just who is this guy? I'm so dead!
- The leader of the Desperados lay prostrate on the floor and did not stop begging for mercy.
- "Don't give me that! Go dig a hole and bury yourself now! You messed with the wrong person!" Donald said angrily.
- Vance waved his hand. "It's fine. I'm not that scary. I still need them to help me with something. I lost my backpack when I flew to Chevron, and the Desperados can help me with finding it."
- "Did you f*cking get that? If you can't find that backpack, you might as well dig a hole and bury yourselves!" Donald roared.
- "Yes, yes, of course. If we can't find the backpack, we'll hand him our heads on a platter," Drago said.
- Donald really does have a thing for burying people alive, Vance thought.
- Donald continued, "Right, Mr. Krauss, I have a piece of news for you."
- "Speak."
- "The Avatar of War has just finished his sentence. He said he'll travel to Chevron, and he hopes you can take him under your wing. He should arrive in another two days."
- "Yeah, yeah," Vance replied and ended the call.
- He tossed the phone to Drago and said, "Clean up the place and get lost."
- The Steelmen had wrecked the entire place, and there was nowhere for Vance to take a nap.
- "Yes, of course!" Dragon replied and led the Steelmen to clean up.
- Vance could not keep his eyes open. He went outside and lay down inside the security post.
- He had not napped for a few minutes before he received a call from Hazel.
- "What's up?" he answered the call and asked.
- "Where are you, Vance?" Hazel said.
- "I'm at the Zenith Mansion. Do you need anything?"
- "I don't believe it. I'm right outside the Zenith Mansion now. Come out and let me see you."
- "Why are you here?" Vance said impatiently.
- He stepped out of the security post while yawning.
- Hazel was hiding behind some shrubbery some distance away. She saw Vance step out of the security post, and she smiled wryly.
- I knew he's only a security guard at the Zenith Mansion! I must be a fool to think that he actually owns the place!
- She almost broke out laughing when she thought about it.
- "Don't be a goof-off, Vance. Being a security guard at the Zenith Mansion has pretty good prospects. If the owner likes what you do, you'll have a bright future," she said.
- "Huh? What do you mean?"
- The call ended before he could receive a reply.
- "Whatever," Vance mumbled to himself and went back to sleep.
- That evening, a momentous piece of news sent shockwaves throughout the entire Midsom and even the world!
- The Avatar of War, the world-famous warlord from Midsom, had been released from prison!
- In five days, he would arrive at Midsom to look for his mentor, Lord Reaper!
- The Avatar of War's mentor had helped him when he was in dire straits. He would not have been alive if not for Lord Reaper.
- According to rumors, the Avatar of War's mentor was a master from Mount Solus. He was in Chevron to fulfill a marriage agreement from many years ago.
- Instantly, the city of Chevron became world-famous.
- Of course, the true identity of the Avatar of War's mentor was also a hot discussion topic. Everyone wanted to know who that extraordinary master was.
- When Arnold got wind of the news, he became unbearably excited.
- Master Crane and his disciples lived on Mount Solus, and one of the disciples had left the mountain and gone to Chevron to fulfill a marriage contract.
- Arnold was very sure that Lord Reaper, the Avatar of War's mentor, was the person who was supposed to marry Hazel.
