Chapter 11 What An Actor

  • "You invited me for dinner, right? I have time now," Vance said. "I'll bring a few friends along too."
  • "Yes! I'll come and look for you now." Helen sounded overjoyed.
  • The call ended.
  • Everyone was gawking at Vance with sheer surprise.
  • Did he really invite Ms. Lewis for dinner? But he's only a security guard!
  • "Pfft!" Victor suddenly laughed. "Vance, I have to admit you're a pretty good actor! Where did you hire that actress? She sounds so similar to Ms. Lewis."
  • Everyone suddenly realized that the "Ms. Lewis" on the other end of the call could be a pair actor.
  • They could never believe the director of Troy Global could lower herself to have dinner with a security guard.
  • Shelley glared at Vance angrily. "How pretentious! I nearly fell for your lies!"
  • You'd better keep your footing when you learn about the truth then! These people really have vivid imaginations. Vance thought.
  • "You'll see soon enough if I manage to invite Helen for dinner," Vance said.
  • "I don't have time to waste on your lies," Ferdinand replied. "Hazel, Shelley, Victor, I'll have to leave now. I'll call you again in two days so we can have dinner with Ms. Lewis."
  • He had to go home and hold the fort. Without him taking charge, Krauss Corporation would not be able to withstand Troy Global's attacks.
  • Before he left, he glared at Vance angrily.
  • D*mmit! How does he know that Troy Global plans to cut ties with Krauss Corporation? Could he be the instigator?
  • The three other people saw Ferdinand off.
  • "That's too bad," Victor said disappointedly. "Don't worry. I'll bring you two ladies to dinner later. We can discuss work too. I'm the head of the sales department, and I can make important business decisions. Here, have a glass of water. I'll be off work soon."
  • "Okay," Hazel replied and nodded.
  • Right after she took the glass of water in front of her, Vance stopped her. "You can't drink this."
  • "Why not?" Hazel asked.
  • Vance took the glass and sniffed it. He was sure that the water was drugged.
  • Someone slipped a roofie into the drink!
  • He held the glass of water to Victor’s face. "Drink this."
  • Victor was incensed. "What's the meaning of this?"
  • "I'm telling you to drink this glass of water," Vance said.
  • "Hazel, you can tell me directly if your company doesn't want to collaborate with Troy Global. You didn't have to hire this clown to make a fool of me!" Victor said angrily.
  • "You've misunderstood, Mr. Arbry…" Hazel said anxiously. "What are you doing, Vance? Apologize to Mr. Arbry now!"
  • "He slipped a roofie into your water," Vance said.
  • Of course, Hazel did not believe him. "Shut up! Do you think I can't tell if the water is drugged?"
  • "Let me prove it to you," Vance said.
  • With his other hand, he forced Victor's jaw open, and he poured the glass of water down Victor's throat.
  • "Flugh!" Victor gargled. "You b*stard! I'll kill you!"
  • He raised his hand and delivered a slap toward Vance's face.
  • However, Vance's hand was faster. Victor was sent flying several feet backward.
  • When Victor landed on the floor, he spat out a mouthful of blood and a front tooth.
  • Victor's eyes were bloodshot. He looked like he was going all out for blood.
  • "You're finished, Vance Krauss! You too, Hazel. In three days, I'll make sure the Sullivan family disappears off the face of the earth."
  • Hazel and Shelley were horrified.
  • Oh no! Vance really hit Victor!
  • It was all too easy for Victor to use his connections to take down the Sullivan family business!
  • Hazel was on the verge of tears. "Vance! Are you only satisfied after I die?"
  • "Look," Vance said calmly, pointing at Victor.
  • Hazel and Shelley turned their heads.
  • Victor's face and body had turned red, and rashes broke out all over his skin.
  • His breathing became heavier, and he began to tear away his clothes.
  • "Hot… So hot…"
  • The water was really drugged! Hazel realized Victor was not the gentleman he seemed to be!
  • "Don't worry, I'll take the responsibility for hitting him. I'll make sure no harm comes to the Sullivan family," Vance said.
  • Shelley turned to look at Hazel anxiously. "Hazel, I think you should leave while you can. The guy promised to take responsibility, so let him do it. I'll put in a good word for you in front of Ms. Lewis. She won't blame you."
  • Hazel was not going to abandon Vance. She took Vance's hand and said, "Don't worry, Vance. You hit Victor because you were protecting me. I'll make sure the Sullivan family protects you. Go home with me now, and I'll explain the situation to Grandfather."
  • To Hazel's surprise, Vance said, "It's fine. Victor won't be able to do anything. You don't have to care about him."
  • No matter how Hazel begged him, Vance refused to leave.
  • With no other choice, Hazel had to leave by herself. "Don't worry, I'll go and get help from Grandfather now. I'm not one who would owe a debt of gratitude."
  • Right after Hazel left, Helen and Hunter arrived at the scene.
  • Helen frowned as she looked at the mess. "What the heck happened here?"
  • Victor had regained some consciousness by then. He looked at Helen and pleaded, "Ms. Lewis! You have to help me! I don't know what I did to offend him, he slipped a roofie in my water and even beat me up!"
  • Hunter and Helen were furious when they heard that. They knew that Vance was an extraordinary master and would not resort to dastardly means, nor would he injure someone without any reason. Victor must have done something to offend Vance!
  • Without hesitation, Helen slapped Victor on the other cheek. "Shut up! How dare you slander Vance!"
  • Hunter jogged toward Vance. He seemed apologetic. "I'm sorry, Mr. Krauss. We're really sorry. It's my daughter's fault for hiring such a worthless employee. Don't worry, we'll make sure he's properly disciplined."
  • Vance nodded. "Mm. Now I'm not in the mood for dinner anymore. Another day then."
  • After that, he walked out of the exit, ignoring Hunter and Helen's pleas for him to stay.
  • Shelley and Victor were dumbfounded to see the mayor and the director of Troy Global see the lowly security guard off at the entrance.
  • Why are they so respectful toward him? They didn't even bother to investigate what happened…
  • Just who is that guy? He can't be merely a security guard! Also… whatever he said earlier came true!
  • Helen glared at Victor. "My office. Now!"
  • Victor looked like he was about to cry.
  • Shelley, on the other hand, could not calm down.
  • Earlier, when she knew that Hazel was dating a security guard, she was actually secretly gloating over it.
  • She did not expect the "security guard" to be an influential person whom the mayor had to respect.
  • Words could not describe the extent of envy and jealousy in her heart.
  • But come to think of it, Hazel doesn't seem to know about Vance's true identity. She thinks that he's a peasant and hates him for it. If they divorce… I might have a chance!
  • The more she thought about it, the more excited she became.
  • Her next plan was to try to separate the couple.
  • Outside Troy Global, a Mercedes Benz stopped right next to Vance.
  • The driver was Daryl.
  • "Get in," Daryl said coldly to Vance.
