• “Good. You know what to do.” He disconnected before informing Xavier. “She is here.”
• In the deep silence, Mir could hear Xavier swallow. His own heart thundering against his chest. For the first time, Mir wasn’t feeling confident. Perhaps it had something to do with the presence of his brother. Usually, when handling things alone, Mir did as he wished. He would strike a deal if it suited him alright, or he would shoot everyone in the room who stood against him, without a twitch of remorse. His madness and unpredictable nature were something people were frightened of. And he liked that. He liked people shaking in their boots when he was around. Fear gave him power. It told him who was the real boss.
• Unfortunately, today was different. The presence of Xavier altered the equation. Now, Mir had to be extra cautious. He couldn’t let that bitch manipulate his brother, because hell knows she’ll try anything to get herself off the hook. Mir had to be ready for that.
