Chapter 5 I Thought You Were Smarter
- Relationships shouldn't be like this, but she would leave those kinds of issues behind when she had enough money to be moralistic. However, they couldn't force her to sign something that might bring consequences later.
- "She is the reason why I oppose moving," she said. She didn't expect those two men in front of her to understand her reasons or the attachment she had to her mother.
- "I can and will accept each term, be at your disposal whenever you want, wherever you indicate."
- "You're no use to me if you don't live with me," she denied, getting up from her chair. Why waste time with someone who didn't even understand her terms? "The only thing I regret is that you wasted my time when I made it clear from the beginning." She took the contract and put it back in the folder, frustrated. She hated being contradicted, but above all, she hated when things didn't go exactly as she wanted. "Nice to meet you, Noelia. You can leave. I don't think we can understand each other, and honestly, I'm not good at forcing anyone to do something they don't want."
- She felt humiliated by the man's words. Her face turned red, and her hands clenched into fists, calming herself down to avoid yelling at him or, worse, grabbing the damn folder and throwing it at his head.
- Why the hell did he ask her to ask about what she didn't understand? She didn't understand why she couldn't continue with her life as it was if he only wanted sex from her. She accepted the fifteen days, could she live those fifteen days with him now that her mother was away? But did she have to do it for six months afterward? That fact was something she couldn't wrap her head around.
- "Well, if you didn't want me to ask about what I didn't understand, you shouldn't have shown me the contract. I agreed to be with you for only fifteen days, but I refuse to change my life for six months just for a transaction of sex. If you can't understand that, you're right, let's not waste any more time." With that, she got up from her seat, ready to leave.
- "I thought you were smarter," Marius replied, annoyed.
- Mathew, who was watching everything from the outside, was tempted to let that girl leave. She was too young, but what he saw when the gazes of that girl and his friend crossed made him clear his throat to interrupt them. That passion in challenging each other, was interesting because he hadn't seen it in him since... since her... maybe Noelia was the person who could pull his friend out of the pit he had been in for over four years, maybe she was the one who could help him forget.
- "May I?" He stood up and opened the folder again, taking out the papers and placing them back on the table. "The young lady seems a bit nervous, right?" he asked, observing her and gesturing for her to come closer. "And you, Marius, too accustomed to girls... Well... You know the type of girls you usually hang out with, but this time you wanted an inexperienced woman," he struggled to address her in that term, as she seemed no more than a child to him, "so you must moderate your character."
- Marius observed his friend, annoyed, but let him continue speaking to see where he was going.
- "This contract extends for six months, as that's the time Marius will be staying in this country and he wants to spend it with you. However, as you previously discussed, you can cancel it after the 15-day trial period. Do both of you understand, or should I draw pictures?"
- Noelia had never met someone who made her so nervous.
- The worst part was that he was physically her type, and who wouldn't be? He looked like a Disney prince straight out of a fairy tale, he just needed the white horse. But when it came to his character, he was too... a friendly way for her to describe Marius would be exasperating and authoritative. It was clear that he was used to having everyone around him do what he wanted.
- "I don't care if the gentleman here is here all year round, the deal was for fifteen days and that's the only thing I'll accept to stay in his house. I wouldn't have an excuse with my mother otherwise."
- Even though she didn't want to, she had to, that's why she was still there, trying to calm herself down. She was grateful that the lawyer was smarter than his client when it came to addressing her. She might be nineteen years old, but that didn't mean she would let anyone else dominate her.
- So, she returned to the desk, took the pen from the lawyer's hand, and signed the paper. It was clear to her that everything would end in fifteen days. She didn't believe she could endure that man's character for much longer.
- "If that's all we have to attend to, I'll leave. I need to prepare to be away from home for two weeks."
- In any other case, Marius would have torn up the contract in her face, but with her, he felt an itch in his hand. He wanted to put her over his knees and spank her. That thought made him smile. She had consented to the spankings, although this time he would simply bring her down a peg in a much more pleasurable way.
- "No, that's not all we have to talk about. The contract starts now." He took her by the forearm to prevent her from escaping and gestured for her to stay. He pressed the button on his intercom. "Angelica, cancel all my appointments for the afternoon."
- Mathew had nothing else to add. He also knew his friend and knew that he was no longer needed there, so he stood up and discreetly said goodbye before leaving.
- "We will have lunch at the country club and spend the afternoon together," he pulled her closer to his body and wrapped his arm around her waist so she had no choice but to stay close. He was tempted to steal another kiss from her, just like he had done last time, but no, this time he would make her crave it, make her ask for it, or even make her initiate it herself. "Then, if you want, you can go get your things, although you won't need anything at my house. I can provide you with anything you need or we can stop by and buy it before we get there. You don't need to pack any suitcase."
