Chapter 20 Is There Anything More Than Money?
- Marius had only been on the plane for a few hours and he was already completely fed up with Matthew's company. Sometimes, Matthew could be too sharp in his opinions and he didn't hold back in expressing what he really thought about his relationship with Noelia.
- "She's not like other women, you can't expect to show her a whole new world and have her forget about you in six months. Do you not see it, Marius? She's not one of those Sugar babies you're so used to. She just has needs that she doesn't know how to fulfill, and in a desperate move, she found you. You're her damn lifeline. And do you know what happens when someone who is drowning finds a lifeline to hold on to? They cling to it with everything they have. It becomes what keeps them afloat. And when the lifeline disappears, they drown again, sometimes worse than before because they've forgotten how to swim."
- "Don't get me wrong," the Frenchman laughed, confidently denying that it would happen like that. "She, like all the others, will forget about me without a second thought. When our affair is over, she will have received over half a million dollars, expensive gifts, clothes, and full payment for her education, and she will have a comfortable and carefree life ahead of her. She will never drown again and won't need any lifeline to hold on to. Or maybe she'll get a taste for it and jump from one lifeline to another, but that won't be something I care about anymore."
