Chapter 9 I Only Trust You

  • At Beverly Hills, Nathan returned to the house after Olivia left. It was still early in the morning, and he hadn't had breakfast yet, but he poured a glass of wine and downed it viciously. He kept hearing Olivia's icy tone in his ears. "The child isn't yours!"
  • She started living in the same house with him since she was seven, and no other boy dared to approach her. Not mine? "Heh..." His face suddenly darkened, and a sneer formed on the corners of his mouth. He finished the wine in his hand in one gulp.
  • At this moment, a car engine was heard outside the door. In a moment, Emily Johnson rushed in quickly. Her gaze was sharp as she quickly scanned the hall before her gaze fell on Nathan. Emily asked pointedly, "Where is that woman? Emma said she came back. Is it true?"
  • Nathan didn't respond. He casually put down the wine glass in his hand. Emily's face suddenly darkened when she saw this. "It seems to be true! How dare she return?" She was furious. Her hatred for Olivia hadn't diminished, even after five years. Nathan didn't say a word. His emotions were indecipherable.
  • Emily looked at him and warned him sternly, "Let me tell you, Nathan, you're already engaged to Emma. Even if that woman is really back, she has nothing to do with you! She's forbidden from taking a single step into Carter Manor!"
  • Nathan felt inexplicably irritated when he heard it. He thought of how the petite woman had refused to enter the villa and thought his mother was overcautious. Olivia currently refused to enter Carter Manor, even if she was invited!
  • Not wanting to listen to Emily's nagging anymore, Nathan didn't even have breakfast and left. As Ethan drove him to the company, Nathan looked out the car window with a deep gaze. He said, "Investigate where Olivia is staying and keep an eye on her. Report to me at once if she makes any moves to go abroad. Also... find out who the man next to her is."
  • "Alright," Ethan answered respectfully.
  • After Olivia, Benjamin, Liam, and Mr. Valtor returned to the hotel, she planned to return to Germany tonight after they freshened up. Her decisions were always final. Liam was secretly worried and troubled about how to make his mom stay. Olivia knew what her son was thinking, so she deliberately ignored him. She took a quick shower and went to bed.
  • She awoke at two in the afternoon, awakened by a phone call! She picked it up and looked at the caller ID, then answered. "What's up, King?" A gentle, magnetic voice rang on the other end. "I heard you returned to the country?"
  • "Yes. I was rushing, so I forgot to tell you. I'll make up the work I left behind when I return." Olivia got up from the bed. She felt a headache forming, so she massaged the bridge of her nose. She hadn't slept well because she kept dreaming! Now that she was awake, her throat was slightly hoarse.
  • "You didn't sleep well?" King Hawthorne asked on the other end. Olivia pulled her hand away from her face. "I'm alright. Is something wrong?" King didn't beat around the bush. "The company plans to establish a branch in Emberfall, but we haven't found the right person in charge. Since you're already there, stay for half a year. After that, we'll transfer you back to Germany."
  • Olivia was momentarily stunned. She wanted to turn him down, but King interrupted before she could say anything. "Olivia, I only trust you!" Olivia swallowed her words. She couldn't refuse King's request. Her current achievements were thanks to the opportunities King had given her. "I understand." Olivia gave in.
  • After hanging up, she sat on the edge of the bed for a long time before getting up to look for Benjamin and Mr. Valtor next door. Liam was also there. When he saw her, he immediately ran over to hug Olivia and asked in his babyish voice, "You're awake, Mommy. Did you sleep well?"
  • "I did," Olivia responded softly, picking up her son. Benjamin approached respectfully and reported, "Ms. Olivia, the flight tickets back to Germany have been booked. We'll leave at eight o'clock tonight."
