Chapter 8 Daddy, You Upset Mommy

  • Olivia looked up at the man nearby, her gaze calm and indifferent. She patted Liam's back lightly and said gently, "I'm sorry for what others said to you. It's my fault... but he really isn't your dad. You're mistaken! Come back with me, okay?"
  • Liam was utterly stunned and looked at her in disbelief. How can this man not be my Daddy? When I hugged Daddy last night, I didn't dislike him. In fact, I felt very fond of him! "Be a good boy!" Olivia let go of Liam, stroking his head and comforting him.
  • Nathan saw this scene nearby and felt most of his anger dissipate. Instead, he was left in a daze. The scene before him was something he had never witnessed before. He had seen many sides of Olivia. When she was timid, cautious, anxious, and angry... He had seen them all.
  • But he had never seen the dominant and indifferent side she had shown today. Moreover, she only showed traces of tenderness before Liam. She had changed a lot and was no longer the person he once knew!
  • Nathan's gaze was deep and unfathomable. He stared straight at the petite woman, trying to see through her. Olivia seemed unaware. She was only determined to take Liam away. Liam could see it and couldn't help but feel slightly disappointed. However, he was smart enough to tell that Olivia had conflicts with Nathan. That was why she didn't admit Nathan was his dad.
  • He rolled his eyes and compromised. "Mommy, I'll go back with you... I'll have Mr. Valtor pack up right away." With that, the little guy turned and headed back to the villa. As he passed Nathan, he rushed over and hugged his leg, looking reluctant to leave. When Olivia saw this, she turned and pretended not to notice.
  • Soon, Liam and Mr. Valtor came out, and Olivia led them out of Carter Manor without looking back. On the way to the hotel, Olivia leaned back in her seat, feeling utterly weary. After a sleepless night on a ten-hour flight and confronting Nathan, her emotions had fluctuated significantly. Now that she could relax, she felt inexplicably exhausted.
  • Mr. Valtor saw this and looked apologetic. "I'm sorry for bringing William here without your consent, Ms. Olivia. When we return, you can punish me as you see fit."
  • "Never mind. It's not your fault." Olivia waved. She didn't intend to make a fuss. She knew Mr. Valtor would never have gone behind her back if it weren't for her own son instigating it. Liam knew he was in the wrong and immediately came over to play coy. "Mommy, please don't be angry. It was my mistake."
  • "You're admitting fault? That's a first!" Olivia saw through her son's insincerity at a glance. She couldn't help but flick his forehead lightly with her finger. It was evident that she wasn't actually angry! Liam sensed it and felt bolder. He couldn't help but ask, "Mommy, why did you lie? That person is obviously my daddy, right? Didn't you say... children shouldn't lie? Adults should set a good example, too!"
  • Olivia was caught off guard. She wanted to deny it but couldn't speak when faced with the boy's piercing gaze. She could only rub his head helplessly and say, "You're still young. There are many things you don't understand."
  • "I do!" Liam said seriously. "Since you won't let us reunite, Daddy must have done something wrong to upset you, Mommy! Since that's the case, I'll keep my distance. It's most important thing that you like me, Mommy..."
  • With that, the child snuggled up to Olivia and hugged her. As she cradled Liam's soft body in her arms, Olivia felt a sense of warmth and an indescribable loneliness.
