Chapter 4
- I just got home and at that moment the maid came to me looking really worried. It was quite late and I had spent a lot of time out there with Mara. We stopped for a drink or two which was not just social stuff. Apparently Zara had this really excellent make-up artist friend of hers that had to meet them at the bar. The feminine man had walked in with his glitters and shimmers and had greeted them. It was during the course of their drink that he had checked out her face and affirmed that it was something he could do. I was excited at the news, especially when he said I would still look pretty and even much younger. Besides I had my body on the go for me as I always made certain that it was in shape. We decided to spend a lot of time with each other before I decided to call it a night. Trust me it was a lot late. So when Martha came to ask if I was alright, I told her not to worry and started out for the house.
- "Ma'am the key?" the potter asked.
- I looked at the key in my hand and then recalled I still had stuff in my booth.
- "Nevermind Alfredo. I will be holding on to it for a while." I said to him and he nodded.
- I made for the house and realized the sitting room was empty. That certainly meant that Emilio had gone to bed or perhaps was having one of his berserk nights out with his many whores. I of course still had the envelope in my hand and made it for the bedroom. The lights were out there which meant he had definitely gone to bed without me. He was home this time probably, well good riddance because I cared less. My feet hurt badly so before going for the light switch that was all the way to the side of the bed, I stopped to take off my heels when the lights suddenly flashed on. I was shaken and stopped in the act of taking off my second shoe for a brief moment and then continued ignoring him.
- Emilio sat on the chair beside the bed with his shirt opened revealing his six packs and sexy insides. He had his tie over his neck and by his side on the side table was a bottle of what seemed to be brandy , a nearly empty drinking glass and an ashtray. He obviously had been drinking all along. I kicked my shoes to the side facing him with so much glare as I would not be intimidated this time into giving in to his wills.
- "You were not with Zara, where were you girl scout?" he asked me.
- Girl scout? Whatever was he implying that I have been doing.
- "It's none of your business Emilio." I said to him
- "So we are all back to referring to each other by the first names huh?" he asked, sitting up and grabbing the glass. He emptied the contents and replaced it on the table with a loud noise. I actually feared the glass would break.
- But then it was becoming funny to me how he made things all about him. He made a fuss about me referring to him by his first name yet since the past two years, Emilio had done nothing but call me by mine. It was only in social gatherings of which I could count a few of about four that he would refer to me by endearing names.
- "Well you call me by my name. Ain't nothing wrong in calling you by your Emilio or isn't that your name?" I asked him
- "You are my wife. I demand to know where the hell you have been all day." he said authoritatively and with that commanding tone that usually I would fall for but now I only found it condescending that he was referring to me that way. I too deserved a little control; if not for anything but at the very least his heart and body which he has been sharing around. I walked towards him and smiled at his face making sure it was not too close. Then I tapped the envelope I had laid on the table with my perfectly manicured nail.
- "Ex wife Emilio. I have signed my part and I expect yours to be ready by the morning." I said to him
- "What? You know you cannot divorce me Samantha. You are mine." he said and rose up
- "I belong to no one. I will be waiting to hear from you in the morning. Make it quick Emilio, because I need to move out." I said to him,
- He picked up the envelope and then dropped it again.
- "By the morning, you would expect you to come back to your senses. Clearly you've been drinking too much." he said to me
- "Have the papers signed by Emilio." I said and started walking out of the bedroom with my purse still in hand.
- "Where do you think you're going to?" he demanded angrily
- "Haven't you noticed? It smells like whores here." I said and started laughing as I stalked out of the room making sure to close the door firmly after me. I went straight to the bar and grabbed myself a bottle before going off to the guest bedroom where I locked myself in. My heart was troubled as was my soul. I could not even make it away from the door when I started sliding down the door till I sat down on my butt. Tears that had been welling up had already started to fall off my eyes. I was crying despite all my hopes to keep it cool. The purse to my side and the bottle to the other, I chose the bottle to drown my sorrows. I had been drinking for longer until my phone rang when I was in another space. I could barely see what I was looking at on the screen of my phone. It was hazy but luckily I saw the name as I took the call.
- "Dom..." I said drunkenly.
- He must have noticed how off I sounded.
- "Have you been drinking Sam?" he asked over the phone.
