Chapter 4

  • A secret agent was stationed in a certain hospital to keep an eye on a certain breath-taking Biracial skin girl with blond hair and blue eyes.
  • The young lady extended her hand in order to check the time on her watch, which revealed that it was two o'clock in the morning.
  • Her shift at the hospital had just come to an end, and she was currently sitting with a couple of other female coworkers while they chatted nonstop about various topics related to the hospital as well as other issues.
  • Her eyes could barely stay open as she sat there and listened quietly without uttering a word.
  • Her eyes were just beginning to close when one of her coworkers grabbed her hand to examine the ring that was currently on her finger.
  • This was the ring that she received as an engagement present from the man who was the love of her life, and it is the ring that serves as the official symbol of her relationship with her fiancé Lincoln Blake.
  • "It looks quite nice even though it has a fairly straightforward construction," one of her colleagues commented.
  • "How can you possibly call this simple? Even if we sold you, you wouldn't bring in even half of what we'd need for the ring. If I didn't know better, I would believe you were jealous of her based on the way your statement sounded,” another person retorted.
  • Scarlet withdrew her hand from her coworker in a manner that was both kind and polite, but she did not pay attention to the inanities they were discussing. She never paid heed to women's rumors about other women.
  • Her wedding was the dream of her carefree childhood and her immature adolescence, but now that she is an adult, she is more self-aware than she ought to be.
  • She has a solid comprehension of the breadth of the future responsibilities that will be placed on her shoulders and she is prepared to take on those challenges.
  • She despises the attention that is going to be focused on her as a result of the fact that she is going to be wed to Lincoln Blake, who comes from a well-known family in the field of economics in this country.
  • Many women had dreams about him, but she had him.
  • This was a responsibility that society had bestowed upon her, and she must fulfill it.
  • People were already keeping a close eye on her due to the fact that she is Scarlet Wovers, the daughter of the governor of the capital, and due to the fact that the responsibility of societal oversight will increase once she has married.
  • But the most critical responsibility of all was that she would be Lincoln's wife for his person, not his status. His personality was demanding and cold, and he did not forgive a mistake.
  • Living with his coldness and possessive personality will be the most challenging aspect of all of this.
  • Scarlet got to her feet, grabbed her bag, and stuffed it full of her personal belongings.
  • She left the building stealthily without looking at her coworkers and made her way outside the walls of the hospital after receiving a message from Lincoln informing her that he was on his way to take her home.
  • She waited for him on the sidewalk until he arrived, all the while keeping her opulent watch that adorned her female wrist in view.
  • Lincoln’s car pulled over in front of her after a brief delay and motioned for her to come forward.
  • Scarlet rushed over to get into the car with a big smile on her face.
  • "Hey there, babe. How was work today? Don’t tell me you overworked yourself," Lincoln asked.
  • "Oh, it was a draining experience." Scarlet replied with her head resting on his shoulder while yawning wearily.
  • “I am sorry, babe. Your training is condensed but comprehensive." He gently caressed her cheeks with his fingers as he rested one palm on her face.
  • Scarlet let out a soft groan and leaned closer to him, continuing to focus on his touch. Her eyes soon shut closed as she gave in to the pull of sleep.
  • “Babe?” Lincoln called softly when he felt her head weighing on her shoulder but without an answer.
  • The most charming smile appeared on his face before he turned his full attention back to the road in front of him.
  • The mansion's gate was unlocked so that his vehicle could drive into the attached garage the moment security spotted his vehicle and licensed number.
  • He carefully removed her head from his shoulder and carried her inside in his arms without waking her up.
  • As soon as he entered the mansion, Lincoln was taken aback when he saw her mother. No question that the woman was concerned and worried about her daughter.
  • “Good evening Mrs. Wovers,” Lincoln greeted the woman.
  • “Lincoln, son, you brought her back. I was concerned about her staying at work this late. It gave me chills to think that something bad might happen to her. I don't understand why she insists on leading a simple life and refuses to have guards with her.”
  • "Please don't worry about her at all, Mom; she's perfectly safe and sound; she's just sleeping right now. Concerning the fact that she works late, I have delegated others to keep an eye on her. Therefore, even in the event that I was unable to bring her back home with me today, one of them would have done so. If it's alright with you, I'd like to put her to sleep and wait with her until she wakes up."
  • Mrs. Wovers gave a nod. “You have my gratitude, son. This is your fiancee's house, so feel free to do whatever you like in it.”
  • Lincoln murmured his gratitude to his soon-to-be mother-in-law as he passed her on the stairs to go to Scarlet's room.
  • He took off his jacket and sat down next to her on the bed before gently setting her down on the mattress. He then laid down next to her on the bed and passed out as well.
