Chapter 4 Is Money That Easy to Make?

  • Sullivan's mockery of the other party was no less a mockery of himself.
  • No wonder he was blind. When the heart was blind, the eyes were useless.
  • Lavinia, standing nearby, was stunned. What was going on?
  • "Let's talk this out; let's ... "
  • Lavinia stepped in between them.
  • Smack!
  • Before Lavinia could finish, a slap landed on her face.
  • "Who the hell do you think you are to talk here?"
  • The other person was too mad to listen to Lavinia.
  • "You guys are really crossing the line!"
  • The slap came out of nowhere; even Sullivan didn't see it coming.
  • When they showed up with the property deed, Sullivan didn't get angry. When the money in his account got transferred out, he didn't get angry. But seeing Lavinia get hit for his sake, made Sullivan really mad!
  • "Crossing the line? I can go way further. Want to find out?"
  • The other person sneered dismissively. He had looked into it. Sullivan was just a blind man. What could he possibly do?
  • "If you can't understand plain words, I don't have to be polite anymore!"
  • Suddenly, Sullivan moved!
  • He rushed at the other person like a phantom. No one even saw his movements clearly. The big guy only felt a sharp pain on his face, his vision went black, and he lost his balance.
  • Smack!
  • Sullivan's slap landed squarely on his face.
  • "You don't know how to appreciate kindness. I felt sorry for you getting scammed, but you don't know any better and dare to hurt her in front of me!"
  • The big guy was slapped to the ground by Sullivan, clutching his face in rage.
  • "How dare you hit me!
  • "What are you all standing around for? Get him! Take this guy down!"
  • He roared, eyes blazing with anger. Seeing their leader get hit, the three men with him charged at Sullivan.
  • "You're asking for it!"
  • With that slap, Sullivan confirmed that his abilities were real. Handling these guys would be no problem.
  • Sullivan stood in front of Lavinia, forming a wall. He didn't dodge or flinch. To him, their movements seemed to be in slow motion.
  • When one of them got close, he finally made his move.
  • Sullivan lifted his foot and kicked the big guy right in the stomach. The guy, over six feet tall, went flying like a kite with a snapped string and slammed hard into the floor.
  • The other two rushed at Sullivan, fists raised.
  • They threw punches at his shoulders.
  • Boom, boom ...
  • In no time, both of them were knocked back. Just like that, all four troublemakers were on the ground, moaning in pain. Not even a corner of Sullivan's clothes got touched.
  • Lavinia covered her mouth in shock. When did Sullivan get so strong?
  • The four guys looked at Sullivan with fear.
  • "Do you even know who we are? How dare you mess with us! Damon's not going to let this slide! You're done for!" the leader yelled, dropping his boss's name.
  • "Oh yeah? I'll be waiting," Sullivan said, taking a step closer.
  • "What are you doing? Don't come any closer."
  • The guys were shaking and backing away. After being in the game for so long, they knew Sullivan's skills were way beyond what they could handle.
  • Sullivan didn't bother with them anymore. He just bent down, picked up the property deed, and coldly told them, "Get lost!"
  • The guys, feeling like they'd narrowly escaped, scrambled to their feet and rushed out of the Carvers' yard, looking a mess.
  • "Sorry about that, Lavinia."
  • Sullivan turned to see Lavinia's bruised face.
  • "I'm okay. But Sulli, what's going on? I know who Damon is—he's got dozens of guys in Southville. If you've ticked him off ... "
  • Lavinia looked at Sullivan with worry.
  • "It's okay. Just sit down for now. I'll explain everything when I get back."
  • Even though Sullivan had his skills, he didn't have any medicine at home—there was only so much you could do without supplies.
  • He left the yard and headed to the pharmacy at the end of the alley.
  • "Can I get a box of anti-swelling and pain-relief ointment?" Sullivan asked at the counter.
  • "That'll be 12.45. Cash or card?"
  • Sullivan was surprised by the price. Is a box of ointment really that pricey?
  • He pulled out the last 15 bucks in his pocket and handed it to the cashier.
  • When Sullivan got the ointment, he checked the ingredients.
  • It listed things like Rhodiola, rosemary, and Panax notoginseng ...
  • Honestly, there was nothing special or particularly expensive about the ingredients. If he were making it himself, this small 15-gram box of ointment would cost less than 1.5 bucks. But at the pharmacy, it was over 12—eight times the price!
  • Is money really that easy to make these days?
  • An idea popped into Sullivan's head.
  • As soon as he entered the alley, he saw Lavinia anxiously waiting at the door, looking around nervously.
