Chapter 1 The Unseen Betrayal
- "Sullivan, different positions have different feels—some women are bigger, some are smaller. But don't worry. I checked it out for you; your wife is definitely not small. The children will never go hungry in the future, and you'll be well pleased."
- In the small courtyard, Lavinia Quinn teased with a smile.
- The man facing her looked dazed, his ears turning red.
- "Lavinia, thank you."
- Today is Sullivan Carver's wedding day. But due to an accident, he's blind, so he couldn't even attend the ceremony in person. He had to rely on his good friend, Benedict Huxley, to bring the bride over.
- Sullivan stayed home, waiting for her to arrive. Lavinia had taken him aside privately to explain how things should go on the wedding night.
- "No need to thank me. You'll figure it out when the time comes. But remember, girls are delicate flowers, so don't be too hasty. Be gentle."
- Lavinia looked at the handsome and charming Sullivan, feeling a pang of sympathy in her heart. This kid had it rough from the start—his father abandoned them right after he was born, leaving just a rundown house behind. Just when they finally got a chance for redevelopment, his mother suddenly passed away. Sullivan, rushing back home, ended up in a car accident and lost his sight.
- Fortunately, his mother had made a prearranged marriage for him when he was a child. Now that he's twenty at least he'll have someone to take care of him in the future.
- "The bride's here!"
- The courtyard buzzed with excitement.
- "Sullivan, remember what I told you—if you can't find the spot, ask your wife for help. You've got to get things sorted tonight!"
- With the guidance of the crowd, Sullivan finally held the bride's hand. Due to his blindness, the wedding was kept simple. But Sullivan had been fed a lot of alcohol and was helped into the room by Benedict.
- Lying on the bed, Sullivan felt woozy.
- In the room, the bride was covering her mouth, her clothes being undone by a large hand.
- Viola Arden, blushing, shook her head at Benedict.
- Benedict, having drunk a lot himself, was now out of his mind, brazenly holding Viola.
- "Stop, Sullivan's still here."
- Viola refused, her face red.
- "What are you afraid of? He's completely drunk. I made sure to pour him extra today. Besides, what can a blind man see?
- "This is a special night; don't waste it. And don't you think it's more thrilling this way?"
- Benedict's face wore a sly grin.
- "Just be careful. We've got our baby inside me."
- Although Sullivan was drunk, he wasn't asleep. His blindness didn't mean he couldn't hear. On the contrary, his sense of hearing was exceptionally sharp due to his lack of sight.
- In an instant, he sobered up, his heart feeling like it was being sliced apart. He couldn't believe that his best friend and his childhood sweetheart were doing this right in front of him!
- And besides, the two of them had already secretly conceived a child!
- Sullivan struggled to get up, but his head was spinning. He felt utter despair. After eighteen years of being with Viola, he hadn't touched her, yet she was already with Benedict. The most ridiculous part was that Benedict was the one who came to fetch the Viola today!
- Why go through all this?
- Sullivan remained still, wanting to understand why they were doing this.
- Even though he and Viola had a prearranged marriage, no one said she had to marry him. Besides, Benedict was his good friend. As long as they spoke up, Sullivan wouldn't stand in the way of their happiness!
- "Sweetheart, once this baby is born, make sure to transfer all of the Carvers' property to our son. Then we can be together openly!"
- So that's it! These two are truly despicable, all for the family fortune!
- "Do you think this plan will work? I'm worried Sullivan will find out. What then ... "
- Viola hesitated.
- "What's there to worry about? No one knows about Mrs. Elise's death, right?
- "I have the power to make him blind so I can easily get rid of him. Don't worry, sweetheart. Just take good care of me. Sullivan can't see a thing. When the time comes, you can just play him however you want."
- As Sullivan listened, his head buzzed. He clenched his fists tightly and sat up on the bed.
- So his mother's death and his blindness weren't accidents after all!
- These two deserve to die!
- The sounds of moaning from earlier were interrupted by Sullivan's awakening.
- "You—how are you awake?"
- Viola looked at Sullivan in terror, fearing he had heard everything.
- Sullivan staggered out of bed and charged at the two of them with a roar.
- "Benedict, Viola, you sc*ms! I'm going to kill you!"
- Sullivan swung his fists wildly but couldn't land a single blow on either of them.
