Chapter 6 Mystic Seer, Ethereal Healer

  • "Mystic seer ... "
  • Sullivan thought for a moment and added: 'Ethereal Healer!'
  • More services, more income, right? Maybe someone would come for a consultation.
  • As soon as Sullivan set up his stall, an old guy under the bridge across from him started eyeing him suspiciously.
  • It looked like he was wondering where this young guy came from to steal his business.
  • A new guy set up under the bridge, and people quickly noticed.
  • "Hey, there's a new fortune teller. Want to check him out?"
  • "Mystic seer, ethereal healer. Sounds pretty full of himself!"
  • The old man snorted. He didn't have any business yet, but if this kid stole his customers, he wouldn't let it slide!
  • "No way. He's just a scammer. A young guy with perfectly good hands and feet, resorting to trickery!"
  • Opal Jensen couldn't stand people like that.
  • "Come on, Opal, we're just here to relax. Even if he's not good at fortune-telling, he might be good at medicine. Maybe he can help with your problem."
  • Opal hesitated at her friend's suggestion.
  • The reason she came to places like this was to find someone with real skills.
  • She had been married for three years but hadn't gotten pregnant. Her husband hadn't been home for two months. If things went on like this, her position in the family would be at risk.
  • Because of this, she had even spent a lot of money online looking for a solution. She was desperate for a child—any child. It didn't have to be her husband's, or even hers by birth. As long as it was hers, that was all that mattered.
  • "Let's check him out, but first, I want to see what he's really worth!"
  • With that, Opal sat down across from Sullivan and took a stack of red bills from her designer handbag, slapping them down in front of him.
  • Sullivan noticed Opal and was a bit taken aback. The woman was stunning in a tight black dress that showed off her impressive figure. Her eyes were sharp yet alluring, and everything about her—her high nose bridge and bright red lips—projected confidence and power.
  • It didn't seem like she was here for fortune-telling; it looked more like she was looking for trouble.
  • But when Sullivan saw the thick stack of bills, he was taken aback.
  • He quickly regained his composure, cleared his throat, and asked, "What can I help you with today? Fortune-telling or medical treatment?"
  • To his surprise, Opal didn't follow the usual approach.
  • "Aren't you supposed to be really skilled? So let's make it interesting. Guess whether I need fortune-telling or medical treatment. If you guess right, I'll give you half the money!"
  • Hearing the woman's challenge, Sullivan didn't get angry—instead, he smiled.
  • There were at least 150 bucks on the table, so if he guessed right, he'd get 75 bucks. This deal was turning out to be pretty good ...
  • Oh, wait, not just good—perfect!
  • "Please don't be so worked up. Could you extend your hand so I can take a look?
  • "Don't worry, if I don't do a good job, I won't charge you a penny!"
  • Seeing how confident Sullivan was, Opal stretched out her hand.
  • As Sullivan took a look at Opal's palm, he studied it closely.
  • Her palm told a pretty grim story.
  • According to her palm, she was likely to remain childless and go through a major romantic crisis. If she didn't fix it, it could lead to losing her wealth, a ruined reputation, and a really unhappy ending.
  • But, he did spot a possible chance for a change in her palm lines!
  • Sullivan cleared his throat and asked, "Are you married? If so, for how long?"
  • Opal paused and said, "I've been married for three years."
  • Sullivan nodded, getting the picture.
  • "You're not here for fortune-telling, you're here for medical help. If having kids is out of the question, don't push it—unless you're ready to spend a lot of money!" Sullivan said with a sigh.
  • He said that mainly to get her to pay more. Her hands were super smooth, a clear sign she was well-off and used to a pampered life.
  • "H-How did you know that?"
  • Opal's calm expression changed to shock as she looked at the young guy in sunglasses.
  • She came for medical help, but she hadn't told anyone about her desperate need for a child. Not even the people who asked knew her real situation.
  • Seeing how shocked the woman was, Sullivan felt pretty satisfied.
  • "I'll take the money now."
  • He didn't hesitate at all, counting out five bills and slipping them into his pocket. That should keep him going for the next couple of weeks!
  • "That's incredible! You figured all that out—you're really something. So, can you actually help Opal with her problem?"
  • The young girl standing behind Opal asked.
  • "Sure, I can help. Didn't you see my sign? Mystic seer, ethereal healer. But like I said, it's going to cost a lot!"
  • "A lot of money," Opal repeated to herself.
  • She was trying to find a solution for having a baby, right? This fortune teller kept stressing the need for a big payment, so maybe he really had a way to help her get pregnant.
