• Stephen was packing his things when someone knocked on the door. He looked at it and, even though he knew that there was no one in the house, he would want to see, he sighed and said, “Come in please.”
• When Dinah walked in, he cursed himself for being such a fucking fool. “What do you want?” he asked her, not unkindly.
• Dinah lowered her head and said, “Stephen, please don’t be mad at me. I promise I won’t mention the camping trip again, or your lover.”
