Chapter 21

• It was hard, but after what seemed like an eternity, Lena was able to get Edgar in the car then she took the driver's seat. She was temporarily dazzled by the sleek machine which was so much different than her old second hand which she had saved for. With any luck, when she got paid that month she hoped to put in another payment for her new car before Terry blew her money all up. Again.
• The navigator was on, and the drive was easy. Getting to the single apartment she was familiar with, she drove into the lot and parked. Edgar owned many buildings and apartments, but this was the only one she knew. It had a private elevator to the penthouse. After a lot of huffing and puffing, she was able to get them into it and into the penthouse. There was no time to gawk. The last time she was there was to drop off files and there had been a past girlfriend strutting around in Edgar's shirt. Adeline had rushed off green with envy.
• Now, as she navigated the apartment with a shaky Edgar in her arms, she admired what she saw. Eventually, they got to the master's bedroom and she pushed the door open to reveal a king-sized bed in a darkly masculine room. The room was done in stiff shades of white, grey and black. Still, there was no denying that some of the furnishing cost more than she could ever imagine.
