• It took a long time, but finally, they were out of the main city. Before long they were leaving Sunny Island, moving along the border to the one place Emily knew they would be safe. It was a simple cabin she and Ace had built.
• Over the years after the death of her aunty, Ace's human mother, Emily had felt alone and out of place.
• An orphan herself, the only link to humanity she had was her Aunty who had died after battling the illness that birthing Ace caused for many years.
