Chapter 5

  • Fifteen days later
  • Gathered again at the company, Donald's sisters, supported by other partners, asked him that if within a month he didn't announce, at the very least, an engagement with one of his conquests, then they would force him to commit to Laila Thomas.
  • Donald, angry and convinced that he didn't need this marriage to ensure his stability and permanence in the position, while his brother recovered, got up from his chair, furious, slamming the table hard and replied:
  • "No one can force me to do what I don't want. I'm not going to make such a big decision just because of your whims," he said sternly, leaving the boardroom, very angry and slamming the door.
  • Faced with this situation, he locked himself in his office, poured himself a whisky and started to consider the idea of having a romance with Yves, who is not from his social circle, but who he is very attracted to and could even commit to her, just to teach his sisters a lesson.
  • "I'm tired of this threat, just as I'm tired of Laila harassing me, because I'm sure she's behind all this," he thought, savoring a drink.
  • "We'll see who wins and gets their way," Donald ironically reflected, raising his glass in a toast.
  • One week later
  • As he left his office, Donald had made a decision: to conquer Yves and even marry her as soon as possible. He really wanted to punish his sisters and one way to do that was to marry someone who doesn't belong to his same social circle.
  • That afternoon, after finishing his work, he decided to visit Yves and invite her to dinner. She rejected his invitation, as she didn't want to leave her mother alone. But, since she was invited in the presence of her mother, she convinced her to accept, assuring her that she would be fine.
  • "Okay! But you have to wait for me to change," she said, smiling, looking at Donald delighted.
  • Yves no longer looked at him the way she did a month ago. He was awakening emotions and feelings in her that she had never felt before for anyone. However, she was grounded, with her feet firmly on the ground, he would never be hers.
  • - "You don't need much, you're naturally beautiful!" he confirmed, giving her a loving look that he hadn't done until now.
  • - "Thank you!" she replied. "In any case, there isn't much to choose from," she smiled, with a deep gaze.
  • - "Your beauty outshines everything around you!" he expressed, practicing his seductive skills with her.
  • Once they were ready, they left the apartment, walking side by side without touching each other. However, each of them felt a kind of spark that their bodies produced from being close to each other. It was definitely a new emotion for both of them.
  • Upon arriving at the restaurant, Donald met his friend John, who was accompanied. They greeted each other, and he introduced Yves to his friend, who was amazed by her beauty. After that, they separated and he dedicated himself to enjoying the night with her.
  • "How do you feel living in the apartment?" he asked curiously, while the waiter served the drinks.
  • "Excellent! I will never be able to repay you for everything you have done for my mother and me. Although I feel like the people in the building look at me strangely," she assured, pouting and adding, "None of them are like you!"
  • "How do they look at you strangely? And how am I?" he asked, smiling, observing the waiter serving the order.
  • "They look at me as if I stink!" she replied, smiling, pouting again, focused on his movements to imitate him while eating.
  • "Haha! Ignore them!" he laughed, raising his glass to toast with her, insisting on his question. "And how am I?"
  • "Just like that, all cute, beautiful, kind! Besides, you are the only person after my mother who cares so much about me," she expressed, rolling her eyes.
  • "Haha! It's been nothing. During the time I was out of the country, I dedicated myself to helping people with problems. Enjoy your meal!"
  • And so, the two of them dedicated themselves to savoring and enjoying the food he ordered, as she had no idea what she would eat. After finishing eating, she added:
  • "You know? Today more than ever, I give my testimonial: 'every cloud has a silver lining.' And here's the proof," she opened her arms and showed the palms of her hands, "If you hadn't hit me, I wouldn't have had the opportunity to meet you."
  • "Our lives changed radically after the accident. If we had stayed in that room, my mother would have already died with the worst memories. Now she only tells me that she is ready to leave when God decides! And she assures me that she will leave happily," she confessed, her voice breaking.
  • "You're absolutely right! If it weren't for the accident, we wouldn't have met, we wouldn't be here."
  • "And I'm really sorry about your mom," he declared, with sadness and empathy for her.
