Chapter 17 Reaped What You Sowed
- The housekeeper whom my mother-in-law hired began working by the next morning. Her name was Victoria Lowe, who was a woman of short stature with a round face and fair skin. While her eyes weren’t big, they seemed shrewd. It was never my habit to observe anyone, but I became more wary of people after being betrayed by Jolene and the Boyers.
- Victoria arrived early in the morning to prepare breakfast. True to what my mother-in-law said, she was good at cooking, as she managed to put into consideration everybody’s tastes during breakfast.
- Carson gave much praise to Victoria upon laying eyes on the lavish breakfast on the table before telling her, “I remember Lily likes noodles with soybean paste, so do prepare some for her from time to time.”
