Chapter 4 Time For Revenge

  • Whispers could be heard in Ethic Textiles, one of the biggest textile companies in England, as the employees were gathered around discussing with each other since the CEO hadn't yet arrived.
  • As they were busy discussing, one of the employees who was standing near the window immediately rushed towards his colleagues.
  • "Hey guys, she just arrived," he informed his colleagues, and immediately they widened their eyes in surprise.
  • "Where's the coin? Let us flip it." He said to his colleagues, and without hesitating, one of them brought a coin and handed it to him.
  • Collecting the coin from him, he flipped it, and immediately it fell on the table. When they saw on which side it fell, they all widened their eyes in surprise.
  • "Bad mood!!!" They all exclaimed in fright before scampering away, each one occupying his position while awaiting the CEO's arrival.
  • Actually, the CEO was none other than Sarah. It's been over five years since she came to England, becoming the CEO of Ethic Textiles, one of her uncle's companies, the same company that she had left to get married to Xavier, not knowing that he was going to shatter her heart at the end.
  • In the five years that she has been the CEO of the company, she has dedicated all her time and energy to the company, depriving herself of any distraction with only one aim, which was for the company to be among the top companies in the country. In less than two years, she was able to achieve that, and the company has maintained that position for the past three years.
  • As she was making her way towards the entrance of the company, her footsteps could be heard from far as the shoes kept on ticking on the ground, making sounds similar to those of a wall clock.
  • As she was approaching, the hearts of the employees were already pounding heavily, as they knew what she was capable of doing whenever she was in a mood.
  • Even though they weren't so sure that she was in a bad mood, they had to prepare for the worst, knowing that the predictions of the flipping coin were rarely wrong.
  • After what seemed like forever, the doors of the company finally burst open, and immediately she walked in a black glass covering her eyes, confirming their expectations. Since she became this CEO, she only wore black glasses when she was in a bad mood; the same way red color signaled danger was the same way her black glasses signaled danger.
  • Once she came inside, her assistant immediately ran towards her and greeted her before collecting from her the files she was holding and her bag.
  • As she was walking past the employees who were greeting her, her eyes kept scanning everywhere, as if she were searching for something in particular.
  • Meanwhile, the only thing that the employees could pray for was for her to go inside her office without finding fault in anyone, because in situations like this, whoever she finds fault with is getting fired. That was an assurance.
  • After walking for some minutes, she suddenly stopped in front of the secretary and narrowed her brows at her.
  • "Good morning," the secretary stammered with her heart pounding heavily.
  • "Yes, Nora, the documents I asked you to work on yesterday; are you done with them already?" She asked her while peering into her eyeballs.
  • "No, actually, I'm still working on it," she stammered with her heart pounding heavily, and immediately Sarah scoffed angrily.
  • "You are still working on the document I asked you to work on yesterday until now?" Sarah asked her with furrowed brows, but the secretary remained silent while praying for divine intervention.
  • "Do you know what? You are fired" Sarah said to her and started walking towards her office, but before she could reach the door of her office, the secretary ran ahead of her and kneeled down before her.
  • "Please, Mrs. Sarah, forgive me. I have a sick mother on my charge; if you fire me, I won't be able to pay her hospital bills," the secretary begged Sarah, tears already forming in her eyes.
  • Sighing heavily Sarah turned her gaze towards her and removed her glasses.
  • "I'm giving you till ten o'clock, and if the documents aren't ready by then, you are out," Sarah said to her.
  • "Thank you so much, ma'am; it will be ready before then," the secretary said to Sarah before standing up. She was about to walk away when Sarah gave her a tissue she had brought out of her bag.
  • "Clean your face; you look awful with those tears on your cheeks," Sarah said to her before rolling her eyes at her and walking towards her office.
  • Once she entered her office, her assistant, who was behind her, kept her bag on her table and the files she collected from her.
  • "What's my schedule for today?" Sarah asked her assistant.
  • "A meeting with Mr. Edwards by two PM and Mr. Alexander by four PM," she said to her in reply.
  • "Cancel the meeting with Mr. Alexander; I don't want to see his face today," Sarah said to her assistant, and immediately she furrowed her brows in surprise.
  • "But ma'am," she tried protesting, but immediately Sarah shot her an angry glare, and she kept quiet.
  • "I will cancel it right away," the assistant said to her before walking out of her office before she would get a heart attack due to how Sarah was staring at her.
  • Once her assistant left, she leaned on her chair before heaving a sigh of relief and afterwards she adjusted herself and took the file to her table. She was about to bring out the file inside when her phone started ringing. Frowning, she took her bag, brought out her phone, and checked the caller ID, which was her uncle. Without hesitating, she picked it up and placed it on her ear.
  • "Good morning, dad, how are you?" She asked him over the phone.
  • "I'm not fine, Sarah, and there's nothing good about this morning. For crying out loud, when are you coming back?" Her uncle asked her.
  • "Come on, dad, I thought we had talked about this. I'm very busy over here; I can't just leave everything and come back to New York City," she said to her uncle over the phone.
  • "I'm not asking you to come back and stay permanently; my doctor told me to take a break from work and no one is watching over the company; all I need you to do is claim ownership, and also your son; have you forgotten about him?" Her uncle asked her through the phone, and she sighed heavily once again.
  • "I'm coming back next; I hope you are happy now." She asked her uncle while feigning to be angry.
  • "Of course I'm happy; I will be expecting you," he said to her before hanging up.
  • Once he hung up, Sarah opened the drawer of her table and brought out the picture of her son. She looked at it for some minutes, and with that, she smiled at herself.
  • "It seems like it's time to go and claim back what is mine and also make some people experience what is called pain," she
  • said to herself with a wicked smirk hovering over her face.
  • To be continued...
