- On the Swiss side, he was welcomed by Romanshorn, a small fishing village to the west of the lake. It was already getting dark when Scott finally managed to check into one of its hotels. He paid in cash, provided a fake ID he had obtained, and hurriedly went to his room. He entered and locked the door before throwing his suitcase onto the bed and looking around.
- He quickly found the small connecting door to the next room and knocked, trying to contain the excitement he had been repressing for four weeks. The seconds it took for that little door to open felt eternal to him, but when it finally did, he crossed the threshold and threw himself at the feet of the woman in front of him.
