• "According to the housekeeper, Alexa was already unconscious," the detective said, and Scott covered his face with his hands. "Officially, we're declaring this a kidnapping case, and we don't have to wait for any calls because the kidnapper's accomplice is sitting in that room."
• "It was a distraction," Scott growled, realizing. "Asking me to come here, bringing me here... they just wanted to get me out of the house so they could take Alexa."
