Chapter 2 A Woman Seeking Revenge

  • One year later.
  • Alexa Carusso was a beautiful woman but apart from that, she was a strong-willed woman with a desire to conquer everything in her path for one simple reason: she had lost everything and she must to take back what’s hers. Those who hurt her must pay for it.
  • That's why she had spent a year preparing herself, become an analyst in the economic department of Hamilton Holding Enterprise, better known as the HHE group. It was the most powerful company in the technology field, but what Alexa only interested in was its CEO, Scott Hamilton.
  • Mr. Hamilton was an elusive man, hiding his face from the media and erasing any private news or photos of himself from the internet. However, everyone who knew him agreed on one thing: he was a ruthless, fierce, horrible man...but Alexa was there ready to conquer him!
  • She drove her discreet Honda van to the Hamilton Holding Enterprise building in the heart of New York. It was her first day and she was ready to make a good impression, but life never made it easy for her.
  • She was about to take one of the last two available parking spaces near the elevator when a red Ferrari cut in front of her without any consideration... and parked right in the middle of the two spots!
  • Alexa gritted her teeth and got out of the car.
  • "Excuse me, could you please park properly?" she asked as politely as she could.
  • A tall man with blue eyes, handsome like a damn Nordic god stepped out of the Ferrari. He looked Alexa up and down, as if he were a predator who had just found exactly what he wanted to devour.
  • "There are more parking spaces at the back," he snapped. "Now get out of my sight."
  • "The back is three hundred meters away!" Alexa growled with anger. "I'm not going to walk all that way and arrive sweaty on my first day just because you can't aim to occupy a single parking space!"
  • "Are you crazy or pretending to be?" the man hissed, dangerously approaching her.
  • "Do you know who you're talking to? This car costs twenty times more than your Honda. Do you think I'll let you park next to it? Please! This is a...!"
  • "Ferrari 488 GBT, V8 engine with 3902 cubic centimeters, 670 horsepower at 8000 revolutions." Alexa described, looking him in the eyes defiantly, and then looked at the car. "It's nice, but excessively sporty, it doesn't match a magnate, and you definitely don't match it!"
  • The man in front of her seemed about to explode with anger.
  • "You...!"
  • Alexa smiled when she realized that the expression of indifference on that man's face had turned into hatred in just one second. She would have to walk three hundred meters, but that rude idiot would no longer underestimate her!
  • Twenty minutes later, she wiped off the sweat to enter the office she had been assigned to.
  • Apparently, in that company they had very little appreciation for analysts, because their office was spacious but dark and cold. She already had over thirty folders on her desk to review, and her supervisor, Mr. Malcovich, indicated where she should start.
  • "When will I be able to meet Mr. Hamilton?" she asked.
  • "If you value your mental health, hopefully never," the man replied, and Alexa made a face.
  • She tied her hair up in a ponytail and immersed herself in her work. For nine hours, she didn't move from there at all, until she heard her phone ring.
  • "Alejandra? Are you okay?" her friend Howard's voice sounded concerned.
  • "Alexa! remember that it's Alexa now. You've had a year to get used to it, darling. You can't call me Alejandra anymore," she scolded him.
  • "I know, it's just that I got scared when I got home and didn't see you. Are you okay?"
  • "Yes, I'm just still at work," she said. "My supervisor thinks I'm an idiot. He gave me some important investment documents to review, which he should be reviewing himself. But that's good, I think I found something interesting... something that will make me to see my boss tomorrow at noon."
  • A tired sigh came from the other end of the line.
  • "Are you sure you want to do this, Alej... Alexa?" Howard asked.
  • "Of course I do! Alberto and Claudette were going to kill me, Howard! I would be dead if I hadn't done what I did and if you hadn't found me!" Alexa hissed angrily. "I'm going to make them pay for that betrayal, but for that, I need the support of the only one who can stand up to Alberto Mejia now, the only one he truly fears, and that's Scott Hamilton! I'm going to get the support of that man, Howard, even if it's the last thing I do in life!" she declared.
  • There is nothing stronger than the will of a woman seeking revenge, Alexa took her work home, barely slept and when dawn finally arrived, she had found some “interesting” mistakes.
  • "Someone is stealing from him," Alexa smiled and rushed to make coffee while Howard stumbled out of his room half asleep.
  • "What's going on? Why are you screaming like a cat in heat?" he protested.
  • "Someone is stealing from Scott Hamilton!" Alexa exclaimed excitedly. "No one is invulnerable in life, and someone is stealing from the CEO, I finally found a way to reach him!"
  • The Next Day
  • As soon as she told Mr. Malcovich that she had found problems in the numbers, the supervisor took the documents away from her without even asking where the problem was.
  • "Hey, I should talk to Mr. Hamilton about this!" she insisted, unaware of Malcovich's intentions.
  • "This is way above your pay grade, Miss Carusso," the man snapped nervously. "You can't do that, Miss Carusso... that's my job..."
  • "But..."
  • "But nothing! I will do the report!" the man barked and stormed out of the office, slamming the door.
  • Alexa began to suspect his intentions, but luckily she had copies of the documents and reviewed everything again, confirming that the investment was a fraud. So at noon, she stomped her way to the supervisor's office.
  • "Have you reviewed the numbers? Have you done the report?" she asked bluntly.
  • "Yes, everything is correct," the evasive man assured her.
  • "And didn’t you find the problem?" Alexa insisted.
  • "No, I didn't find any problem," he repeated nervously. "You just made a mistake. Now, I have to go."
  • "Mr. Malcovich!" Alexa raised her eyebrows. "I didn't make a mistake! That contract is an attempt to defraud the company. If I, a simple analyst, could see it, how is it that you didn't?"
  • "Exactly!" the man replied, annoyed. "You're just a simple analyst, and I'm your boss..."
  • "Well, obviously that's the first mistake," Alexa hissed. "And if you don't inform Mr. Hamilton that he's being deceived, then I will."
  • "You can't do that, Miss Carusso... that's my job..."
  • “Well, do it then! What’s stopping you from telling the man who pays your salary the truth ?”Alexa asked disdainfully.
  • "I already told you that this is way above your pay grade, so leave it to me or you'll be fired!" Malcovich exclaimed with anger.
  • "Are you going to fire me for telling our boss truth?" she retorted. "Well, let's see if Mr. Hamilton agrees!"
  • It’s so strange. Malcovich keeps preventing me from reporting to the boss. I have to grab this chance to see him.
  • Without saying another word, Alexa snatched the folder of documents from his hand and ran straight to the elevator.
  • "Alexa!" Malcovich shouted when he saw her heading straight for the CEO's office. "What do you think you're doing?"
  • "Nothing, I was just asked to do the report, so now I'm going to present it!" she replied without stopping.
  • "Alexa!" Malcovich shouted from the other end of the hallway, but she didn't stop. "You'll regret this! Come back here!"
  • Alexa ignored him and stepped into the elevator, just in time to see Malcovich running towards her.
  • "Don't get involved in this!" Malcovich growled, grabbing her arm, but Alexa kicked him in the calf.
  • "Let go of me!" she exclaimed. She took off her ruined shoes and threw them aside, watching the man double over in pain. "And get out of my way!"
  • Three more people chased after her as she pushed open the CEO's office door without permission.
  • "I need to speak with Mr. Hamilton!" she declared upon entering, but when the only face in that office looked up at her, Alexa was petrified.
  • It was him!
