Chapter 6 Taming A Bad Girl
- A week had passed since the coffee maker had exploded in the break room. Alexa was feeling better, she had returned to work two days later against the doctor's orders, and her colleagues hadn't crossed paths with her again, not even to say good morning.
- It was no secret that CEO Hamilton had sent someone to investigate the supposed accident, and Daniel Craig, the company lawyer, had made everyone uncomfortable enough with his presence that no one dared to play another prank on Alexa.
- Meanwhile, Scott had hired a team of external consultants and had them set up in one of the conference rooms. Five experts who kept that room immaculate and all the documents in perfect order, however...
- "What do you mean they haven't found anything?!" Scott couldn't believe what the man was telling him. "Tell me again, because I must be deaf."
- "Please calm down, Mr. Hamilton," one of the consultants asked, "what we mean is that, although we know there is a problem, we can't determine where... we can't find any evidence. We just need a little more time to review the documents."
- Everyone turned towards the door as an older man, serious-looking and very elegant, stopped at the entrance. Without interrupting, he sat in one of the comfortable armchairs and waited for Scott to finish.
- "It's been a week already, Mr. Foster!" the CEO exclaimed, running his hands through his hair. "My analyst found the error within the first twenty-four hours. And you've been here for a week! I'm sorry, but patience is not my strong suit, so there's no more time. I'll send someone from Human Resources with your severance package. You can leave."
- The man gestured in frustration but had no choice but to leave.
- "Maybe you'll find my question strange, but if you have such a capable analyst, why the hell are you hiring a team of incompetents?" Gerard Hamilton asked, and Scott smiled before going to hug his grandfather.
- "I had no idea you had arrived," Scott said as he sat down next to him.
- "Well, I come bearing some delicate news, so I preferred to bring them in person," the grandfather declared. "But we have to wait for Daniel, who is about to arrive. In the meantime, would you like to explain to me what's going on?"
- Gerard Hamilton was a brilliant economist, without formal education. He had come from extreme poverty and had climbed up thanks to his intelligence. It had taken him years to have his own business, but he had finally retired comfortably. He had passed his company on to his son, and when his grandson had decided to change the business, Gerard had simply supported him as much as he could.
- Now he was proud of Scott, he had a good package of shares in the company even though he didn't understand it, and he gave him good advice as any grandfather should, without trying to control him.
- Grandfather Gerard was as English as Scott, and he rarely left his Victorian mansion in York, but on this occasion, he knew his grandson would need him.
- "Well? What was all that about?" Asked Gerard.
- Scott sighed as he settled in and told him everything that had happened, from what Alexa Carusso had found to how that devilish woman exasperated him.
- "And you hired that bunch of idiots just to avoid paying her compensation?" Gerard scolded him.
- "Of course not, I'm still going to pay her! I just wanted someone to be smarter than her! And rub it in her face!" Scott growled.
- "And how has that worked out for you so far?" Scott made a disgusted face, and his grandfather stood up. "Well, I want to meet her. Come on, introduce me."
- Together, they went down to Alexa's office, and it didn't surprise Scott at all when they quietly opened the door and saw her barefoot, standing on tiptoes, writing on the glass. She had large glass whiteboards all around the office, filled with numbers from floor to ceiling.
- "I told you she was a maniac," murmured Scott, but there was so much silence that Alexa startled, turning around. "Grandfather, Alexa Caruso. Alexa, this is my grandfather, Gerard Hamilton, who God knows why, wanted to meet you."
- "Because he is an intelligent man?" replied Alexa with a smile as she approached to greet Mr. Gerard. "Excuse my appearance, I forget that I am a person when I am working."
- "Don't worry," hissed Scott. "I already warned him that half the time you're the witch's broom."
- A controlled growl came from Alexa's throat, and the grandfather raised an eyebrow, surprised by the interaction between those two. However, a second later, Alexa smiled sideways and faced Scott.
- "But your consultants couldn't find what the witch found, right?" she provoked. "Is that why you're here, to admit that you lost your bet and that you're going to pay me a million-dollar compensation?"
- "Well, I didn't lose, it was the team of consultants who were useless..."
- "Why don't you admit that I'm your best analyst instead?" Alexa challenged him. "Admit that only I could do such a good job and I'll forget all about it."
- "I'd rather pay you!" hissed Scott.
- "Wow, this is good!" thought the grandfather, taking a step back and observing. "Better than the eight o'clock drama!"
- Alexa took a deep breath and shook her head.
- "Well, then you'll have to pay me a lot because the witch's broom has found more problems here."
- Scott Hamilton's face darkened in an instant.
- "What are you talking about?"
- "Come, look here," Alexa pulled out three files, and the CEO immediately began reviewing them.
- Five minutes later, he pushed back Alexa's desk chair and sat down, reviewing each of the investments that Alexa pointed out. Three more cases, three problems... and he hadn't noticed any of them!
- "Damn it!" he shouted, throwing the pen against one of the whiteboards. "How did I not see any of this? Three more frauds!"
- "The good thing is that two of those contracts are still in the rescission period, you can cancel them, but the third one..." murmured Alexa, and Scott slammed the table.
- "How much are the losses going to be?" he asked.
- "If you cancel it today, a little over five million," she replied.
- "Not much..." Scott sighed with relief as he stood up.
- "No, but if someone pocketed five million without you noticing, maybe this isn't the first time they've done it," the girl replied, and Scott nodded. They probably started with smaller amounts.
- "Alright, keep working, don't tell anyone about this... and put on some shoes, this is not how you receive your bosses!"
- Alexa was about to respond with a curse when the grandfather approached her.
- "Young lady, I am getting the impression that you are a very valuable person for the company, even though my grandson and you have severe personal conflicts," Gerard said diplomatically, and Scott frowned because he knew that when he spoke like that, he had something up his sleeve.
- "Grandfather..."
- "Very true, Mr. Hamilton!"
- "Alexa!"
- "Hey, the girl is trying to help you! Why are you so rude to her?" the grandfather asked, and it was Alexa who answered.
- "That's what I wonder too! But you see, the answer is simple: when common sense was being distributed, your grandson was in line to buy a bigger whistle."
- "And did it work?" Gerard innocently asked, and Alexa coughed nervously, blushing.
- "Uh...!?"
- "Uh?" nothing. Now you answer, did it work for me?
- Alexa and Scott looked at each other like two roosters in a fighting cage, and the grandfather smiled.
- "Well, since I see that you're not going to stop arguing, and it seems that I care more about the company than you do, I'm going to make the rules from now on," he declared. "Alexa, you are promoted to Economic Deputy Director, and Scott is not allowed to fire you without my consent."
- "What!?" exclaimed Scott.
- "I have made a decision, and I don't care if you like it or not," the grandfather pronounced. "After all, I am a shareholder of this company, right?"
- "I gave you the shares so that you would support me!" Scott protested.
- “That’s how I'm supporting you, but the most important thing now is to solve the theft problem before it gets bigger, so right now you have work to do, right? So get to it!”
- Scott was about to reply, but the grandfather raised a finger and he knew it was useless. He would swear that woman was crazy and she had succeeded: she had managed to get Gerard Hamilton on her side and now he himself couldn't get her out of there. Scott felt helpless for the first time in his life and that was not good at all.
- “Ha, ha, I'm glad you like my idea "the grandfather said satisfied. Now, I'll go get some coffee while you make peace. Scott, I'll wait for you in the office, remember we still have a delicate matter to discuss.”
- Gerard left the office and Alexa instantly stepped back, because Scott's eyes turned into those of a predator in a second. He approached her slowly, and the girl felt her heart racing.
- “This won't end like this.”he murmured fiercely.
- Alexa challenged him with a cold and determined look.
- “Really? Now I'm the favorite of the grandfather, do you think you can intimidate me?”she challenged, crossing her arms.
- “How the hell haven't you learned yet that you shouldn't defy me!? “ he growled.
- “It must be because you're a very bad teacher, pretty boy..." she murmured mockingly and a second later she was swallowing those words along with Scott's tongue, who had no intention of giving her any respite.
- Alexa stifled a scream when she felt him lift her and sit her on the table, slipping between her legs. It was a fierce, possessive kiss, with the intention to punish.
- Even in the midst of that outburst, it was evident that they could barely stand each other and that they had no qualms about expressing their mutual hatred, but there was something that brought them together time and time again. Maybe it was the forbidden attraction that simmered slowly beneath the surface, or maybe it was simply a feeling of fierce lust and desire that neither of them knew how to control.
- "Do you really think you're going to get away with it?" Scott gasped, biting her lips until she moaned. Her body arched against his without being able to help it and he was about to start moaning uncontrollably, like an animal in heat. "What do I have to do to make you stop challenging me? "he hissed violently as he held her in a way that made Alexa feel as if she were naked in his arms.
- "I'm sorry, Hamilton "she responded, looking him fiercely in the eyes. "I'm not one to be easily broken.
- But despite those words, her body's reaction told a different story, one that Scott liked more.
- "Do you think you're a bad girl? Do you think I can't dominate you?" he laughed. He caressed that curve of her jaw, under her ear with his breath, and then gently bit it. " I hate you, bad girl... but I'm willing to play." he said with an evil smile.
- "Welcome to my hell."
