Chapter 1 The Pain Of Betrayal

  • Alejandra smiled as she warmly greeted all the guests at her wedding. There were over five hundred people, almost all celebrities or important figures in the chocolate industry from around the world. As for herself, Alejandra Sanroman was also a celebrity.
  • She was a wealthy heiress from California, and despite being orphaned at the age of fourteen, she had grown up to be a strong and hardworking woman. At twenty-two years old, she successfully ran her parents' company and had just married the man she loved. She had everything, her life was perfect.
  • Now she just needed to complete the ceremony with her husband, Alberto.
  • Alejandra searched the entire mansion for her husband Alberto, but she froze when she passed by her cousin Claudette's room.
  • "Alberto! Yes... don't stop... More, more! Yes! Alberto..."
  • Alejandra felt as if she had been shot in the stomach. Every sound she heard was heartbroken, she couldn't believe that Alberto had been cheating on her with her cousin Claudette on their wedding day.
  • She needed to get out of there, but she couldn’t move, paralyzed by the pain. Claudette was the person she trusted the most after her husband, but they had both betrayed her in the worst way.
  • She didn't know whether to confront them or run away, but her cousin's voice stopped her steps.
  • "Have you decided how to do with Alejandra?" she heard her cousin ask after their climax.
  • "There's not much to decide, we had already talked about this: Alejandra has to disappear," Alberto said, and Alejandra felt as if her heart was being ripped out.
  • “By the way, are you sure you can have a cooperation with Scott Hamilton, the biggest tech company CEO in Europe ? ” , her cousin kept asking.
  • Although tears were streaming down her cheeks, Alejandra strained her ears, as if she needed to know the reason they were betraying her.
  • "Yes, this time there's no turning back. Scott is expanding. He has offered me a deal I can't refuse," Alberto said. "If I can become his business partner that means I'll make more money than I'll ever spend in my life without any efforts, but I need to invest a large initial capital firstly..."
  • "You know Alejandra won't give it to you," Claudette hissed with contempt. "She likes being the CEO, the rich one, the powerful one. She'll never let you out of her control, darling, she just wants you to be her pet, but she won't let you be more powerful than her, so I guess you've already made a decision."
  • Alejandra's heart skipped a beat, and before her husband could speak again, she already knew what he was planning.
  • "That's why she has to die," Alberto hissed. "I have to become a widower as soon as possible!"
  • "And how do you plan to do it?" Claudette asked with morbid curiosity.
  • "In a little while, they will call her about a problem at the factory, I've already arranged that. And she won't refuse to go even though it's our wedding, I can sure. So I've cut the brakes on her car, that Ferrari will be her end."
  • "Perfect, then Alejandra will be out of our lives forever," Claudette laughed. "Then you just have to inherit everything and finish the deal with Mr. Hamilton. Then we'll have everything we've always wanted: power, money, and a life without problems!"
  • Alejandra fell to her knees, covering her mouth to stifle a scream. Her husband was sending her to her death. She couldn't believe he was capable of being with another woman, let alone planning to kill her. But that's exactly what he was doing.
  • "But... are you sure she'll die?" Claudette suddenly asked.
  • "Very sure! And if that damn cousin of yours doesn't die from this, I'll find a way to kill her, but I assure you, she won't survive this week!"
  • Slowly, Alejandra regained movement in her legs and walked to her room, where she collapsed onto the bed, crying. She couldn't believe what she had just heard. How could Alberto do something like this to her? And Claudette? The cousin she trusted so much...
  • The room seemed to spin around her, and she needed to get out of there. However, a few minutes later, someone knocked on her door and her uncle Milton entered.
  • "Daughter, they just called. There's an urgent problem at the factory...!" The man stopped when he saw her teary eyes. "Are you okay?"
  • But before Alejandra could answer, Alberto, Claudette, and her aunt Leticia also entered.
  • "Ale, what's wrong?" her husband asked, feigning concern that made her stomach turn.
  • Alejandra looked at everyone, but after that betrayal, she couldn't trust anyone. What if her uncles were also a part of this plan? After all, they were Claudette's parents.
  • "Nothing, I was just... miss my parents... Today is so special for me..." she lied, distancing herself from them.
  • "What's happening at the factory?" Alejandra asked.
  • "It seems an animal got in and fell into one of the chocolate tanks," her uncle said.
  • "Each of those tanks costs twenty thousand dollars!" Claudette exclaimed. "How could they be so careless!? useless...!"
  • "Alright, alright. What we need to do now is fix it," Alberto interrupted, turning to his wife. "You'll go to the factory, right?"
  • Alejandra looked at her husband for a long second.
  • "Will you come with me?" she asked, and he shook his head with the most disgustingly fake smile in history.
  • "I shouldn't, Ale. Someone has to stay and attend to the guests. It wouldn't be right for both bride and groom to be absent," he replied, and Alejandra's hands trembled.
  • She could confront him, but she remembered his words: "If that damn cousin of yours doesn't die from this, I'll find a way to kill her."
  • Alberto, the man she loved, was determined to end her life.
  • She left the room without saying a word and didn't stop until she reached the mansion's parking lot.
  • "Take it, drive this!" Alberto said, handing her the Ferrari keys.
  • Alejandra took the key with a shudder and got into the car, immediately leaving the property.
  • She cried inconsolably as she drove as slowly as possible. She thought about the day she had met Alberto. It had been at a party, she was twenty years old and he was twenty-eight. Alberto was Claudette's friend and worked as a lawyer at her uncle Milton's firm. Her own aunt Leticia had introduced them and pushed them towards each other, saying they were meant to be.
  • How had she ended up in this situation? How had she been so stupid to believe that these people loved her?
  • Tears streamed down her cheeks as she looked at the curves of the road ahead. Her life was in danger, but she knew there was no way to escape so much demons. Her heart was broken, and she felt suffocated, so she did something she had never thought of doing before:
  • She stepped on the accelerator and directed the car towards the first curve of the road.
  • Alberto couldn't kill her if she took care of ending her own life.
  • The Ferrari took the curve too fast and veered off the road. Everything happened in slow motion before Alejandra's eyes. The car flipped over and then flew through the air towards the cliff. It fell fifteen meters below, shattering before the gas tank ignited in a massive explosion.
  • An hour later, a police patrol arrived at the scene of the accident. There were no survivors in that tragedy, so after identifying the Ferrari's license plate, they headed to the Sanroman mansion to inform Alberto that Alejandra had died. Sadly, they hadn't been able to recover any of her body after the explosion.
  • Five hundred guests watched as that man cried, cursed, and writhed in pain over the death of his beloved wife, and they all cried with him, unaware that killing Alejandra Sanroman had been his idea; all because he wanted to steal her inheritance to build his own businesses, his own empire.
  • And what Alberto Mejia was far from imagining was that Alejandra Sanroman was not one to forgive, she'll come back for revenge and take back what's hers!
