Chapter 9

  • The sunlight casting itself on Teresa's face through the curtain drew her from her sleep, groaning loudly. Her eyes lit up as she stood up before stretching her body. She stared at the floor she was laying on to notice Rose beside her.
  • How did she get here? She pulled the duvet over the sleeping Rose. She tried to remember what she was dreaming about but after thinking deeply she had lost everything after she woke up. This was the first time Teresa was sleeping peacefully without people coming at her for their debt or her landlord disrupting her sleep for their late payment of house rent.
  • The night had been nice. She moved downstairs to notice Hector and Maria having breakfast, “Good morning sir, ” she mumbled before entering the kitchen to help Ms. Nita out. “First time, I mean Rose hasn't slept this well for a long time, ” Ms. Nita let out, switching off the cooker.
