Chapter 5 Escape Plan

• JUNIPER Point of view
• I don't even notice it until she's sprinting back down the stairs and the rest of the girls are shouting. The hallway is loud and someone falls down and starts vomiting.
• "Girls, they never listen!" Sarah laughs and then goes behind one of the lit fires on the wall and rings a bell. The bell echoes everywhere, and then loud sirens start blaring.
• "Move forward!" Sarah shouts, and the girls start pushing each other forward, scared to be used as punishment for Fayette. Tears are falling from my eyes as Aviva drags me forward, they're going to kill her!.
• We all get ushered into a large, mostly empty room and then the door is locked, leaving us inside alone. Everybody is panicking.
• "Why does that girl turn off!"
• "She's going to get killed!"
• "Gods! She's made this a mess for us!"
• "Mr. Dakari is going to flip!"
• The girls all sat on the floor talking and dropping theories about what was going to happen to Fayette. The tears are now flooding over my face. Aviva's crying too, but she's also trying to comfort me.
• "Should we help her?" I asked her.
• "The doors are locked from the outside and there's no open window" Aviva answered immediately. I feel sick as my stomach twists violently. I think I'm going to throw up.
• "Hey! Don't throw up, keep that sh*t in your stomach. Didn't you see how the girl that vomited earlier was dragged away? I can't lose you too", Aviva, says, rubbing my back in slow circles.
• "We haven't lost Fay, maybe she escaped" I said hopefully. Aviva looks at me like she's just going along with it.
• "Yes, that's a possibility, Juni," she reassures me.
• "Your friend is dumb", Someone says, and we both look up to seeing it's June.
• "She's not, she just doesn't want to be sold like a commodity" I argue.
• "If she was really bent on surviving, running off like that was dumb", June says, unfazed, she should piss off.
• "She just panicked!" I screamed, clenching my fists by my side.
• "Oh please, accept how dumb she f*cking was and make sure both of you don't end up the same way." June says and as she tries to walk off, I jump up and dive at her.
• I connect my open palms with her cheeks and start hitting her on the face. She throws me off, but I refuse to back down, lunging forward and grabbing a fistful of her hair. The girls are now screaming and chanting for us to fight.
• "Juni!! Stop it!!" I heard Aviva's voice and I stopped hitting June. She throws me off, and I land on the ground with my back.
• "Ouch!!" I scream. The rest of the girls start laughing, but Viv rushes to help him up.
• "Juniper, you need to stop!" She cries "that was dumb by the way". I roll my eyes but lift myself up and we both walk to a corner to rest.
• "Tell me the truth", I turned to Aviva as she lay beside me. Most of the girls are already asleep now, cuddling close to each other to avoid the cold.
• "What truth?" She asks, sleep evident in her voice.
• "Do you think Fayette is safe?" I asked. The sirens had stopped earlier and there was no noise we could hear.
• Aviva stays quiet for a while before she answers quietly "No".
• Fayette is dead
• Fayette is dead
• It keeps ringing in my head as her body is being dragged by two guys into the room, her black hair has a reddish color to it, three girls have already vomited, one fainted. I kept looking at the body, lump, lifeless, and the annoying sound of it being dragged on the floor until her body was in the middle of the room. I'm squeezing Aviva's hand so tight, I'm trying not to vomit, I'm trying not to faint. The blood is everywhere, Fayette is dead.
• Mr. Dakari walks in with a rifle in his hand.
• "Tsk tsk tsk, I mean what have I done that's so wrong you girls refuse to listen to me?" He asks, pointing the gun everywhere, the girls flinching in fear, Aviva and I don't move. "I try to be nice, don't I? So when I say stay put, why the f*ck do you move!" He shouts, squeezing the trigger and shooting a girl who no one noticed had sneaked to the door. The bullet went through her head and splattered blood everywhere. She slumped lifelessly on the ground.
• Two other girls fainted, and I fell to my knees. Aviva is beside me immediately, holding me.
• "Well, what are you waiting for?! Move her you dummy!" Mr. Dakari screams "Who else wants to die? Come on, just tell me, and we can get on with it. It's going to be fast and easy."
• I vomit all over my dress, Mr. Dakari turns to look at me and smiles.
• "New girl, my sweet Juniper" Mr. Dakari says, walking to me, he squats to my level. "You're going to have to be better at holding your dinner, DO YOU UNDERSTAND?" He screams into my ear and I flinch.
• "Yes sir!" I answered, my body shaking. Aviva doesn't leave my side. He gives her a once over and then walks back to the middle of the room.
• "So this is what's going to happen, the rest of you who are still living will obey Sarah and do exactly what she tells you until it's auction time and when you're bought, you're going to smile like a rainbow is coming out of your owners' ass!!!!! Somebody packed this bloody mess already!" He says before marching out of the room, two guys following him dragging the bodies along.
• Sarah comes in with the other girls as they start cleaning up the carpet. She looks at us and shakes her head. "I tried to tell ya"
• The girls are finally done cleaning but everyone keeps avoiding that part of the carpet, even Sarah stands away as she starts giving instructions.
