• The pain was tyrannical, radiating out from every part of Rosana's body. The tiny shards of glass that dug into her skin as a result of the accident caused a different kind of pain that seemed to go on forever.
• Each time she moved, the glass shifted. It felt like an army of needles, prickling, prodding, and cutting at her skin. It dug deeper and deeper into her flesh, cutting all the way through, and even as her skull throbbed like it was about to explode, she kept her eyes open.
