Chapter 22
- Her heart trembled from his words, and her body from his touch. Not trusting her words, she wrapped her arms around his waist and rested her head against his chest lightly. She almost sighed when his big arms tightened around her and held her against him.
- Owen just stood there, content to hold her. With his arms sheltering her from the world, she almost thought it possible to trust again. The man holding her wasn’t like Tyler, she told herself. He said he’d cherish her, and a small part of her believed he meant it. She spoke against his chest. “I’ve never told anyone everything, Owen. I don’t know if I can.”
- He gentled his hold on her. “Tell me what you feel comfortable with, Lee. I won’t abuse your trust. I won’t judge.” She remained in his arms and rubbed her face slowly across his chest. He continued to hold her with ease, but every muscle she could feel was tense.
